Five Games I'm Looking Forward to in 2015

2015 looks like a crazy good year with what we have announced so far. I'm sure something will get delayed, but on the other hand, I'm also sure Nintendo will announce three or four awesome games that will make up for them at E3. While there's a lot to enjoy, these five stand out head and shoulders from the rest of the pack in my mind.

Also plan to recap this year. Just have three games I definitely need to sink more time into first: Dark Souls 2, Captain Toad, and Wolfenstein: The New Order.

5. Uncharted 4

I was skeptical on Uncharted 4 at first, but there have been many things to sell me on it since. Sixty frames per second was a start, then hearing a few key guys who were hard at work on Uncharted 2 and The Last of Us, but not as much on UC3 got me on board. Now after seeing that last gameplay trailer, it's hitting all the right notes for me. Bring it on!

Also hoping against all odds for an Easter egg going on about how America is still a quarantine zone.

4. Xenoblade Chronicles X

I really liked the original Xenoblade. Fun, creative world with a pretty good cast of characters, combat that was fun enough, and really wide open areas to explore. Add in robot suits, air battles, and a bump up in hardware and I think think the sequel could improve things quite a bit.

3. The Legend of Zelda Wii U

Not much is known on this, but Link Between Worlds did a decent job of restoring my faith after Skyward Sword made me want to swear off the series for good. More importantly, the gameplay details such as open areas and more of an exploration focus are exactly what I want to hear. Hoping it's what I imagine rather than an unfortunate reality of compromises (aka the opposite of the Tomb Raider reboot).

2. Bloodborne

Bloodborne is shaping up as what a new IP from a great developer should be: Something that keeps what is great about their game while tweaking it so it feels fresh. The brutality and focus on discovery in an eerie world looks to bring what I love about Dark Souls with a distinct new atmosphere and an intriguing focus on offense rather than defense has me excited.

Plus, I know From Software won't try to screw me with preorder bullshit, microtransactions, or an unfinished product. That's huge for me nowadays.

1. Metal Gear Solid 5

Will MGS5 be my favorite game of 2015? I'm not sure. Will it disappoint? I'm not sure. Will it have us wondering what the hell Kojima was thinking? OH FUCK YES!!! Say what you want about this series, every installment is interesting, worth playing, and will have you talking about it far longer than most games. Sure, 2 and 4 had a lot of questionable decisions, but they were questionable in an intriguing way.

Ground Zeroes may not have been my favorite game of 2014, but it let me know the engine and concept have potential while the story isn't afraid to cause controversy. And based on what Kojima said on villain The Quiet, he wants to make plenty of people feel uncomfortable with her backstory. So bring it on!

I know when more trailers are released for Bloodborne, I'm going to get way too excited.

I already know I want it, so I'm done looking at more info.

From this list I look forward to Zelda Wii U. Aside from that, i'm excited for the Majora's Mask remake, Splatoon, the new Star Fox (or atleast any announcement), The Witcher 3 and most of all, No Man's Sky.

No Man's Sky I'm taking the wait and see approach on. There's way too much that could go wrong with it. Hope it works out.

I forgot about Xenoblade!  Looking forward to that.

U know, I almost bought Ground Zeroes during the last Steam sale, and I kind of wish I had.  I know it's not the best game, but I want to play it.  I didn't love MGS4, but i have to say it was a memorable experience.  The Phantom Pain looks good though.

GZ is actually very good. It's short, but everything they give you is pretty damn good.

You already know what I'm looking forward to.  You should try and beat Captain Toad because it's pretty short.

I will. Just have a lot more to play as well.

Yeah, I'm betting on that new Zelda game.  Looks sweet.

There's more I'm looking forward to with it than I was with Skyward Sword, so that's a start.

I seriously enjoyed Ground Zeroes, but I only paid 5 bucks for it, so there's that...

Does anyone else notice just how fucking weird Nathan Drake looks? His face is off, and not in a way that looks like he aged, but in a "had a very serious belt sander accident" way.

I really enjoyed GZ too. Drake definitely looks different, but I don't really have an issue with his new look. Mostly because the environments are so damned gorgeous.

out of your list I think Uncharted 4 is the only one I don't care about. I didn't get into the series even though I own the first two in retail form and have the third one courtesy of PSN+. I tried but they just never grabbed me.

The others I'm very interested in and the two Wiil U games are going to cause me to get rid of my 360 and the 60 games I have for it in order to get the money.

You should try Uncharted 1/& 2 if you haven't. Those are both excellent.

I did start 1 and 2. I played more of 1 than 2 but not much of either. Then I played the intro to 3  said WTF! and quit.

Anyway I might try again at some point. Too many Stars of Destiny to get at the moment.

2 is the only Uncharted I'd put on a must play list. 1 I thought was mediocre, 3 bounced back and forth between great and horrible all the time, but 2 was a roller coaster of pure fun.

I know my brother is gonna get Bloodborne. He still plays Dark Souls on a daily basis. That was quite possibly the pefect birthday present. I knew he liked difficult games but damn.

I enjoyed Dark Souls 1 a lot and am enjoying Dark Souls 2 a decent amount too. And this is coming from a guy who hated Demon's Souls. Maybe I'll give it another shot though.

2014 was better than I thought it'd be considering it looked pretty lackluster, but 2015 looks really insane. I know I say this all the time, but I really wish I was caught up on MGS. I love talking games a lot and it seems super fun for that. I love the term questionable in an intriguing way. The newer ones seem to control way better too which would be a plus for me.

MGS2 and 4 I'm not sure how you'd respond to, but I think you'd at least be glad you played them. 2 especially is just so bizarre and unlike anything else. 3 does need some getting used to the controls, but once you do, it's fantastic. And you're right, Ground Zeroes has silky smooth controls and TPP will too.

I'm interested to see the direction that Uncharted and Metal Gear will take. Before playing Ground Zeroes I figured the next installment would be more of the same but after playing GZ, I want to give MG5 a try.

I can't say much is exciting me this year. I know this should be the big year when all the consoles take off their kid gloves but for the most part it just a big meh to me.

Not even The Order 1886 is doing it for me anymore. I will probably buy Xenoblade Chronicles X though if only not to get burned on the original release back on the Wii. I also want to see about the new Nintendo 3DS version of Xenoblades for the portable aspect.
