Sony Just CURBSTOMPED Microsoft

So, to recap:

- $100 less than the Xone for more powerful hardware
- No always-online DRM
- Games can be traded in, borrowed and resold as normal
- Playstation Eye camera isn't required at all times
- An actual attempt at backwards compatibility via Gaikai
- Indie devs able to self-publish

Sony just stomped the Xbox One into a bloody stain. How MS recovers from this without a complete, immediate about face is beyond me.

Lol Great news now maybe Microsoft will realize just like life you cant tell us what we have to do we do what we want and if Sony wants half a million of Xbones former users there going about it the right way lol to hell with Xbone.

There's zero justification for me to ever get an Xone now. None whatsoever.

MS can only bring me on board by doing a complete about face immediately along side a big price cut, and I know that's not gonna happen.

It's amazing how excited I am over corporate speak, but it seriously feels like the Rebel fleet destroying the Death Star. This is coming from someone who, if anything, has a very very casual connection to Star Wars, but that's the perfect metaphor for how it feels.

Pretty much. :p

Sony just made the Xbone its bitch.

Posted on June 11, 2013 4:43 AM

The victory was total and absolute.

I know,it's gonna be incredibly tough for Microsoft to spin this. They had their asses handed to them tonight. Sony beat them on every front, but the used games issue was the biggest one of all.  They sold me,I decided I'm getting a PS4 first. Might wait until tax return time to buy a XBOX One.

I suspect that Redmond is full of dread and anxiety tonight, to put it lightly.

I'm pretty sure Steve Ballmer is sweating profusely at the prospect of having to face his shareholders.

Sony/PS4: Hadoken!!!!

Xbone/Moneysoft: no,no,NO! (hits ground with a smacking sound)

Posted on June 11, 2013 4:41 AM

Hadoken? More like, "Sony wins. FATALITY."

Posted on June 11, 2013 4:47 AM

Good one,Andrew. lol. Fatality indeed. Not to mention co-co-combo breaker! Granted KI is theoretically on the Xbone but I have a feeling ms will not be able to hang on to exclusives for long. Developers and publishers are going to jump overboard like rats fleeing the sinking Titanic. Tongue Out

Sony describes their sharing policy

Posted on June 11, 2013 4:44 AM

People are going to remember that for a long ass time. :p

wanted to post thia video but I couldn't find it at time of my posting. I want to replay it over and over. thank you for recaping in better detail than I on the utter curbstomping we witnessed.

Posted on June 11, 2013 4:47 AM

Thanks! :)

I wonder if microsoft is going to try to spin a "We're America! Patriotism, fuck yeah! Support the X-Bone!" angle. Anyone going to buy that spew? Anybody? C'mon, what about uber realistic "collar duty" dog?! He's man's best friend! And and....that Halo show by Spielberg......Anybody? Didn't think so. Thank the divine "sanity" prevailed!

Sony completely rewrote the entire framework of the next-gen console war in something like 3 minutes. MS has a monumental recovery effort in front of it.

Posted on June 11, 2013 4:53 AM

I know, I was being a sarcastic snark,gigantor. lol. I'm pro PS4 100%!

Posted on June 11, 2013 1:02 PM

LMAO I know. XD

The whole used game issue was neevr a big rpoblem for me, so it was everything else that sony announced that sold me on a ps4.  The only thing that sucks is the online multiplayer.  Since you need PS+ to play online, but unless I am mistaken PS+ is leaps and bounds above XBL gold.

Posted on June 11, 2013 1:44 PM

Yeah, that part sucks. I love PS+, but having to pay for multiplayer now is kind of "eh". It was the only bad part of an otherwise great conference.

Posted on June 11, 2013 2:01 PM

if the gaikai deal is tied into the PS+ then I think that it will be completely worth it.

Posted on June 11, 2013 2:48 PM

That video was a thing of beauty. Sony restored my faith in the future of the gaming industry in a mere 2 minutes and 20 seconds. I'm still curious to see how the Xbone does sales wise once the systems actually launch.

Posted on June 12, 2013 1:43 AM

Same here.

While the core is clearly pleased, I don't know how many people getting consoles at Christmastime follow all this stuff. It's hard to say how big a factor this will be sales wise--the $100 price difference may end up being more important.

Posted on June 12, 2013 1:39 AM

I still don't know if i'll ever get a PS4, but I just couldn't stop smiling when everyone in the conference was cheering at the great news.

It's really great that Sony decided not to follow Microsoft methods.

Posted on June 12, 2013 1:42 AM

It really is.

Posted on June 12, 2013 4:24 AM

Sony were the smart ones this time around, last Gen it was said by some that they got flamed for being 'late to the party' but this times it's paid dividends!
