Well, this is what happens when I sleep weird hours

Microsoft has retracted a couple key Xbox One policies, and lo and behold, they're the ones I care most about, and I've been saying all along they've mentioned they can change their policies any time, and that they had more games (at launch) I want and what I thought was a better controller.

Well, I am still not planning on getting anything at launch, but they have become a viable option for me again. They may even be what I go with, especially if, as I've been saying, they release a cheap Kinectless version for a price similar to PS4.In that case, the price matters to me more than my privacy; not because I don't value my privacy, but unplugging the thing takes care of that concern, and so does being able to use it in an offline setting.

However, this whole fiasco has saddled me with a bit of distrust, and I'm still considering a PS4 because ... well, launch titles aren't everything, and I'm wondering if when it comes down to it, I might just like Sony's exclusives better in the long run.

But hey, now it's about games again, for me at least, which is a good thing.

I see some of you already uploaded this news, so I'll be commenting those blogs and others.

Your thoughts?

Feel free to read my recent blog for my thoughts on the whole kabob. lol. It's good microsoft did the right thing but don't forget they had to be strong-armed into it whereas Sony was "consumer friendly" right from the start. Just saying.

I am taking that to mind as well.

i don't think they're going to release a kinectless version.  I think we're stuck with that.  Honestly though I think PS4's exclusives are going to be better in the long run, as they were this generation.  I'm glad though and eventually when I have the cash I will purchase and Xbone.

Yeah, I think they designed it around Kinect, so I think you're right. Hey, it's a neat little piece of equipment, just not sure I want it, but the early adopters can figure that out for me. lol

Your thoughts pretty much mirror mine, Joe.

Well, of course they do, as we both have great minds, and therefore must think alike.

I may get a PS4 in the end, but I may just build a new PC. I've never cared for MS as a company other than their operating systems. Although I hear that Windows 8 is garbage lol. It'll be a long time before I get a new console in any case. My backlog is still insane, and there aren't that many modern games coming out that interest me.

Yeah, I would get 7 if I upgraded to a PC. I'm still leaning a bit towards PS4, but this makes Xbox One a viable option once again.

Meh, good for them. I don't care that much since i'm not planning to get an Xbone and every discussion regarding the console has kinda burned me out. Besides, since i'm a loyal sheep to Nintendo, I plan to get a Wii U.

Yeah, I used to be a loyal Nintendo sheep, but I stopped with DS. Although I may get 3DS, but with a premium Wii U being only $50 less than PS4, I have to go PS4. Of course, X looks awesome, and it has great games, so I hope you enjoy it.

While Microsoft currently has a strong selection of exclusives, I cannot think that they will last.  Most of the exclusives worth playing seem to be coming from third parties.  Sony has a strong selection of first party developers.  So down the road I expect them to show Microsoft up.

Yeah, and I am really interested in inFamous and some of their other exclusives.

Im' glad to see I'm not the only one who doesn't fully trust them.. The fix is a day-1 patch, meaning you have to have an internet connection from day-1.. Irony much?

Plus if the fix can be patched in, who's to say it won't eventually be patched out?

Posted on June 20, 2013 11:55 AM

I don't really think they'll patch it out, and don't mind having to connect to the internet for that one thing, to be honest. But I can certainly understand the distrust, and I'm honestly still leaning PS4 anyway, but we'll see.

I don't even try to kid myself. I know I'll end up getting both next year. Already planning on how to make room in my gaming rig for them. I had hoped Microsoft would wise up and do this. They really like our cash, don't they? The bottom line wins the day again. Hooray!

Yeah, it's always a business, no matter how warm and fuzzy the product makes you feel. But hey, as long as I get what I pay for, I am down with that.

I haven't bought Xbox for two gens which i'm shooting for 3, this change of heart on the face of it is good but not only should it not have happened they are taking away some good ideas with it.

I don't know, i'll be doing what I did with the last gen, Buy Nintendo then get a slim PS Tongue Out

I've been with Nintendo ... well for the handhelds except 3DS, and N64 and Gamecube, and played on my brother's NES/SNES and Playstations 1 & 2. So I've never owned or had access to an Xbox console, either. Maybe that's why I kind of want one? Still leaning PS4, though.

I'm still holding off in getting an Xbox One. If not because of some of the disadvantages of a first time adopter but I'd like to see if MS would try to be sneaky and re-activate these unliked policies in the future. Sony removed linux on the PS3 so anything is possible.

Or when the next Halo game is confirmed, either or.
