So the Sony Gamescom conference just finished up and I watched the whole thing live on my PS3 on Playstation Home (lol I'm not even sure why they still support that, I don't know anyone who has actually used it) because I wanted to see it all on my tv instead of the small computer screen.
The biggest announcment was probably at the very end where they unveiled the PS4 launch date for the US and Europe (spoilers, its November 15, and November 29). This won't really affect me that much because I'm holding off on next gen for a bit till Kingdom Hearts 3 gets released (I'm a fanboy, I know) which won't be until at least 2015 where there will be a definite price drop.
Also, in a surprise twist, they announced that Minecraft, which hordes of people in my grade love to a sickening level, will be coming to the PS4! But wait, there's more, They also announced that it would be a launch title. The game's not really my cup of tea, but this should please the fans.
There was also a focus on indie games this time around, my favorite of which shown was Rime. Kotaku just posted that the game looked like a combination of Wind Waker, Ico, and Journey which I swear was the exact same thing that I was thinking.
But above all that, my favorite part of the entire conference was in the end where the Sony CEO had to make the obligatory "Sony has focused on the core gamers wheras other competitors (hint hint wink wink Xbox) have had gamer opposed policies".
I laughed at that. It was funny. Sometimes console developers act like a bunch of schoolyard kids, making fun of each other. But that's not neccesarily a bad thing, competition drives innovation as they like to say (I'm not sure who though).
Your move, Xbox One. Make it a good one.
Edit: Oh, I also forgot to mention that Assasins Creed 3 will be free for PS+ users and Borderlands 2 will be coming to Vita! Happy happy joy joy at more games!
Don't forget the Vita price drops down to $199 soon!!
Overall though, it was a good conference. Makes me wonder why Microsoft isn't having one though. You'd think that they would want as much positive publicity as possible prior to the launch.. Oh well!
not soon, it has already dropped. Target, Best Buy and Amazon.com all have it for for 200 right now.
Darn, that was quick. It looks like the system is gonna start pickin up speed, especially around the holiday season.
Aw nice! I want that thing. That's a good price too.
Im excited bout that! I can finally afford it!
Um. Great blog and all but.. The Wolf Among Us. How could you forget that?
Lol sorry, but that game wasn't featured in the Sony press conference I believe. Still looks great though haha.
I'm not a BIG Kingdom Hearts fan, but I do like it all the same. So when KH3 comes to PS4, I may think about getting one then. I hope there's a Winnie the Pooh world!
Most people hate the Winnie the Pooh minigame worlds, which is stupid end cause they're the greatest and often most adorable lol. Piglet is still my favorite Disney character in KH.
Im def pleased with the conference this year and it just made me more happy about preordering my ps4. There is several things that will be avaiable at launch that will keep me busy for a good long while until Thief and The Order release in 2014.
I see why you would preorder, there are lots of cool games that are gonna be available. Im gonna wait on this next gen though, because the really good games that are $60 and out now will be cheaper then :P and I want to get through all of this gens great games before moving on.
Haven't played Minecraft, but I can relate to you with the popularity. I mean, I didn't expect the game to become a worldwide phenomenon that not only little kids play the game, but also look for Minecraft Creepy Pasta. I'm serious.
Pretty much every other gaming video on YouTube has to do with minecraft lol.
