More Vita time, I celebrate 33 years with sleep and give Halo 4 another chance

Readjusting to late night shifts isn't easy but I'm starting to get used to it. I actually prefer the football season at this school; there's an average of 2 game nights a week. The basketball season is what tested me last year: multiple game nights, more games, more people, more trash, more long nights. I pray this school doesn't host a tournament of any kind. Throw the lowly janitor a bone for once.

It doesn't help productivity, but I still bring my Vita with me just in case I need to scratch that itch. I finished Stealth, Inc: A Clone In The Dark. a week ago and I truly love that game. Plenty of challenges, great level design and some hilarious sight gags. The sentry bots and level boss (it was the same design, this HAL 9000-like super security defense bot with impeccable motion sensors) even had personality. Even the ending was superb; I laughed so hard at the cruelty of it. Highly recommended.

Since then, I've been playing Dragon Fantasy Book I and its a great throwback to Phantasy Star I, the early Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest games. It's pretty grindy but well designed and the text dialogue and writing are clever. I'm approaching it with old-fashion (just grind close to town until you can afford the best weapons and then move on) and it helps to pass the time.  I really want to play the sequel (recently released) but I missed the opportunity to get it on sale. Eh, $3 won't make that big a difference.

And yes, I'm giving Halo 4 another chance. Gamefly had used copies for $12 and I've been meaning to pick it up again. I sold my copy some months back when I had my shitfit over the mutliplayer but I'm hoping the patches since then has helped the strafing problem that I had. I actually miss the experience of jumping in some matches from time to time. I'll always have that affinity with the series. Maybe this time I won't blow a gasket and just accept the simple fact that I suck at multiplayer. Wink

Speaking of Gamefly, they sent me Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Apparently there are still no copies of The Last of Us available but I've wanted to play this as well so I'll make time for it this week. Thankfully, I don't have any weekend football games to clog up my free time.

Speaking of such, game cleanup is how I spent my 33rd birthday last Friday. I received plenty of birthday greetings from family and friends (and some cards) and the closest thing I did to celebrating during the actual day is treating myself to a large grilled chicken breast salad at a local Italian restaurant. I further celebrated on the way home by picking up Star Trek Into Darkness on blu-ray.

I got home at 4 a.m. and slept until 2:30 p.m. I napped even longer on Sunday. I enjoy the simple things in life.

That's all for right now. Thanks for reading!

Into Darkness is great.  I got it in the mail but haven't watched it yet though.

I've been meaning to give Halo 4 a shot but I don't have my xbox connected.  I have a copy though, I just haven't played it (my brother played it over xmas and left it here)

If i had a Vita I would definitely play Dragon Fantasy.

I think you can play it on PS3, as well.

That's where I played it. It gave me both the Vita and PS3 copy when I bought it but I think I installed the Vita copy by accident because it wouldn't go full screen.

I sucked at the Halo 4 multiplayer until I realized that the magnum is my preferred weapon.  Once I quit using automatics I did a heck of a lot better.

Too many good indie games on the Vita, I am definitely going to have to pick up a larger memory card.

Sleep? What's that?! Happy belated birthday.

Thank you!

Happy belated birthday!

I found Into Darkness kinda meh, but I was probably just pissed of that it wasn't a direct remake of ST2: The Wrath Of Khan lol. ST2 was my favorite of the Star Trek movies, if you ever get the chance to, watch that.

Thanks!

Oh, I'm a big fan of Wrath of Kahn. Some people think Into Darkness rips if off and I disagree. There are some moments that echo Wrath of Kahn but events transpire differently and not all of the themes of that film were carried over. I think Star Trek: Nemesis rips of Wrath of Kahn big time but without good writing, characters or direction and it's a poorer film for it.

Happy birthday!  My birthday was last Sunday.

I'm going to start working on my review of Dragon Fantasy Book II soon!

Happy belated birthday to you as well, sir!

Happy 33rd! I'm kinda done with Halo (funny coming from "Halochief"). I'll still play Halo Reach occasionally, but I honestly don't care what 343 does with the series into the future.

Thanks! I still own Reach if I'm feeling nostalgic (I always liked how they handled the Anniversary Maps) or just want some Firefight action.

Played Dragon Fantasy Book I and did the same thing I did with Dragon Warrior. I strayed too far from town and got killed trying to get back.

The first RPG I ever played was Phantasy Star II and I learned that rule of grinding just as quick. The good thing about DFB1 is that it doesn't punish you as you grind like PS2 did.

It's not as punishing but it's still difficult to figure out just how far you can go and still return safely. I always get it wrong.

Glad to hear your giving Halo 4 another chance. too bad you couldn't hold out for the GOTY version out soon that includes all the multiplayer maps. If my system was still working I'd join you in a match.

The GOTY isn't necessary for me at this point. I was crazy enough to buy all the map packs when they were released. Sealed
