So thanks to homelessrook, I've been watching horror movies lately. Jason has been told beforehand that any middle-of-the-night phone calls from me because I'm scared are to be blamed on Larry, lol.
First up, Pumpkinhead: In the so-bad-it's-good category, I spent more time laughing than anything else. And rooting for one particularly unpleasant character to get done in. Go, Pumpkinhead!
Next we have Werewolf: The Beast Among Us. Pretty good, actually. Less scary and more fantasy/steampunk. Decent acting, decent plot, and the right creepy bad guy gets his in the end. Begging for a sequel, by the way.
Fading of the Cries: A wretched waste of film. No cohesion from one scene to another, script and story felt like a not terribly bright tween boy wrote it, acting was dull at best, and I can't believe I wasted 91 minutes of my life watching it. Just plain bad. And did I mention not scary in the least? This is a public service announcement: DON'T WATCH THIS MOVIE! IT SUCKS!
Immortality: couldn't have been very good, I fell asleep within 20 minutes of starting it up. Lame ass movie about a vampire snacking on desperate women after wooing them to make them feel special, proposing to them, and then snacking on them. I dunno why he wasted his time and didn't just go straight for the snacking. Would have saved a lot of time and effort (and made the movie shorter, which could only be a good thing).
I'll be checking out more in the coming weeks, so stay tuned! And all of the above movies can be found streaming on Netflix.
I've got a new movie title idea: Snack Time for Vampy. It's about a young vampire and his parents attempt to control his appetite and teach him proper behavior.
I just watched Snow White and the Huntsman which is a little bit Horror. There's a creepy forest and lots of CG monsters and an evil queen (Charlize Theron) who likes to bathe in milk (eew!). It's not too scary though. It just sets a creepy mood.
I have to tell eveyone about: http://cinemassacre.com/category/moviereviews/monstermadness/sequel-a-thon-2/ because I forgot about it this year and had to catch up on Wednesday. I stayed up almost all night because I couldn't stop watching. James Rolfe (aka Angry Video Game Nerd) does some stellar horror movie reviews. He does really good editing so that you feel like you've watched the whole movie in like 15 minutes.
Finding decent vampire films is a challenge in and of itself,Tami. At least the majority of ones made within the last 5 years or so.
30 days of night was pretty good and it definitely portrayed vampires in a terrifying way.
I'm not really into vampire movies. I only started watching that one because Jude Law was in it. Yes, I fell for the eye candy.
Getting into horror movie mood is perfect for the season of pumpkin flavored everything. I'm not a big fan of the genre, but especially right now, they're a good pick for some entertainment.
Chris, I'm not that into the genre, either. I am careful about what I do pick, as I live by myself in a little cottage in the boonies, plus I work outside, frequently by myself, frequently after dark. I like implausible horror movies, as I can laugh about them or tuck them into the sci fi category if I need to.
Pumpkin-flavored anything, on the other hand, is yucky. Unless it's disguised as bread. Then it's ok.
I think I'll watch, Fading of the Cries, with my friends on our next movie night.
No! Don't! Run far, far away! On second thought, go for it. Why should I be the only one who wishes they could use some mind bleach to erase the memory of that steaming pile of poo?
I forgot to add it will be a Bad Movie Night. We'll go into expecting it to suck.
Well, your expectations will be rewarded, lol.
I just found Pumpkinhead on Netflix.
I have to see this even if Octoberween is slowly coming to an end!
I just found Pumkinhead 2 on Netflix. Will have to watch that one next.
Really! Looks like Octoberween is continuing longer than I thought, after catcing up on Castle and Revolution on hulu.
