Hey Pixlbit! Because it’s Thanksgiving Week, and I have family visiting I probably won’t have time to do a proper Quick Hits blog on Friday, because I will either be a.) walking around Target buying a bunch of Black Friday stuff b.) eating pumpkin pie for breakfast, lunch, and dinner c.) hanging out the family. Because of this I thought I’d start this blog early (I also need something to do because I’m currently doing laundry and I don’t want to fold and put away my clothes).
PSN Goes Bonkers
Did anyone else have the PSN log-in problems over the weekend? I went to log into my PS3 to go check out the store and it said that my password was incorrect. I also got this screen when trying to check my Friends List

I checked my news source…Twitter, and I found out Sony had some problem with their security. First thought was “Damn, again” which quickly went to “I wonder what freebies I’ll get”. There was an easy fix, but it took some digging, and a couple of choice words that ended in “king” and “hes” but everything is now all good.
Fantasy Football

This season has been a roller coaster for CB81 (Cell Block 81, named for Aaron Hernandez). I’ve been treading water, and then went under for a bit, and finally I’m starting to climb out. I think this will be the first season I don’t make the playoffs which sucks but it happens.
Also Julian Edelman went off! I was going to release him a couple of times, but damn dude went nuts against the Broncos (it's about time Tom Brady). Also Aaron Rodgers needs to come back so I can bench Andrew Luck
Chris Watches TV
Dancing With The Stars
I tend to root for the people who have no training because they’re “average” folks but I thought this dance was awesome
I’m happy that she won, but most of my props went to Jack Osborne and Bill Engvall because they don’t have the dancing background.

Bill Nye should have gone farther
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
A couple of friends and I have a new game where we like to text about
Don’t get me wrong I like the show, but it’s fun to point out some of these things during the commercials.
Ouya Watch
Ok so I’m back on the fence about buying one, so naturally I check out Target to see if they still have them (the two near me do)

I might have to act soon on the Sega Genesis that’s packed with 80 games*
*Remember when the Genesis was released? I remember Eternal Champions being $70 bucks at Toys R Us. It’s still the one fighting game I could never pass. My friends couldn’t pass it either.
Anyways if I don’t buy one of those $40 Wii’s at GameStop, I might be looking at the Ouya again because of the price drop…maybe.
Chris goes to Honey Baked
It’s that time of the year and this year I got volunteered to stand in line at Honey Baked (I don’t even eat the ham during Turkey Day) Anyways I don’t know if this is a National Franchise or a regional thing, but the Cliffs Notes version is Honey Baked is a spot where you buy hams and turkey. You can either reserve your order, or walk in, and both stand in the same line. I guess during the off season they make ready to order sandwiches along with buying ham and turkey.

Hey that’s me! This is the only time of year I get to wear Hockey Sweaters, so I make the most of it..and try to wear them everyday.

So this is the line I stood in. The entrance to the store was three signs down. It was a half hour wait, and I had my iPod with me, and I was reading Twitter. Sorry folks around me, I wasn’t being antisocial, I just didn’t want to get caught into the small talk trap of “What are you doing for Thanksgiving”. I did meet a nice couple who got all their information from the paper (which I liked), and a girl who was making Thanksgiving dinner for her boyfriend and his family for the first time (which I liked).
Funny how when I was walking up to the line, it was cold, and by cold I mean Southern California cold at 70 degrees, but the minute I stood in line it got warm. Anyways after a half hour line, and 10 minutes of giving my conformation number for a big butt ham (I shamelessly hummed Baby Got Back) and Turkey Breast I was off to do other things…like hit the Goodwill that was in the area.

This is what I left with. Since I stood in line for them, I might as well try them on Thursday.
Pickups!

I’ve been waiting for NBA 2K13 to drop because of the release of 2K14. I don’t play basketball games a lot so it’s pointless for me to drop $60 bucks on a new one each year, when all I do is the Fantasy Draft, and pick a team who I think has nice uniforms for that year.
I finally picked up Playstation All-Stars because it was $15 and you get the PS3 game as well as the Vita game. I wanted it more for the Vita game. I actually ran into some trouble with the download. First it wouldn’t let me download the game, something about this couldn’t be completed, and then after another try I was good. When I download the game to the Vita it told me I needed to reenter the code so I can access the online features. Seriously Sony? You couldn’t just check the disc that I had to sync with my user name?
Back to the game, I’ll probably let you good people know my thoughts about it in a later blog.
While on Ouya Watch at Target, I was actually there to pickup this album

When she was on The Voice, it was referred to as “Take My Money” because I bought each one of her singles. Love her voice, and I hope this album takes off.
One of the favorites from The Voice
The finds from Goodwill

I picked up this album because of this song
Yep.

This was right under The Manhattans (I think the same former owner). It’s a two record set with picture book. The only thing missing is the paper sleeve for the second record.

This was bought because it’s just cool. I liked the Roger Moore Bond because he was the actor in most of my favorite bond flicks, plus you can’t go wrong with the song “Nobody Does It Better”
Final music purchase was for charity

Much appreciation to the artists and Apple for putting this together and helping people in need. While reading the reviews I saw this

I hope this person is a teen, because her view is downright awful. It isn’t about the music, it’s about helping others. Do I like the music on this album? Most of the tracks aren’t my favorites but I appreciate the gesture. I appreciate others donating their time, and talents to helping others. I do hope however that the money raised from this album does make it to the Philippines Red Cross, and goes to helping the people, and not filling someone’s pockets.
One More Thing
HAPPY THANKSGIVING PIXLBIT! For you Canadians, HAPPY AMERICAN THANKSGIVING (celebrate twice Canada, there’s always room for Turkey). Hope you all have a wonderful holiday, spend it with good people, good food, and good music, and if you go out on Black Friday…you’re nuts, but post your finds if you get anything good!
That’s all for now, more later!
-Chris
Does that Genesis also play cartridges, or is it just built in games in a Genesis husk?
I saw those at target as well. It looks like it has 80 games built in, but also has a slot for cartridges.
Sounds sexy.
It is such an awesome little machine. My friend bought one like this a couple of years ago, but it didn't have the built in games. The one thing I wish it had was HDMI, but oh well I can connect this to an older tube tv in the other room.
I do like that it also has ports for your own controllers, just in case you have an old fight stick, or a favorite 3 button controller laying around.
That Genesis console is cool. 80 built in games and wireless controllers for $40.
Game List: Alex Kidd, Alien Storm, Altered Beast, Arrow Flash, Bonanza Brothers, Chakan, Columns, Columns 3, Comix Zone, Crack Down, Decap Attack, Ecco, Ecco 2, Ecco Jr., E-Swat, Eternal Champions, Fatal Labyrinth, Flicky, Gain Ground, Golden Axe (all three), Jewel Master, Kid Chameleon, Mean Bean Machine, Ristar, Shadow Dancer, Shinobi III, Sonic 3D Blast, Sonic and Knuckles, Sonic Spinball, Sonic the Hedgehog (1 & 2), Streets of Rage (all 3), The Ooze, Vectorman (1 & 2), and Virtua Fighter 2.
I got rid of my Genesis years ago because I had so many collections for the consoles, but I'd like to have an original deck for some obscure games sometime.
I saw this at Dallar general thats a hell of a deal im getting it for my family :)
Awesome little bundle!
That sucks you got rid of the original Genesis. I haven't touched my Genesis in a couple of months. I have the old Sega CD but for some reason it no longer works (I bought way back in college off a friend, just so I could play Mortal Kombat). I do hope you run into a Genesis again so you can play those games.
I had to get rid of some old systems due to space a while back. Since I had all the games I really wanted to play on collections like Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, I gave it to a friend of mine along with my Atari 2600. I don't have a SNES for the same reason. I'm looking at getting this Hyperkin Retron combo system that plays original SNES, NES, Genesis and GBA carts that goes for about $60.

I've seen this at the local mall. This vendor who has a video game kiosk is selling one, but he wants $80. A little too rich for my blood, but I do like that it plays so many different carts. This bad boy is perfect for the retro gamer with limited space. If the game guy would drop his price to $60 I would jump on it, and spend the extra $20 on some of his carts.
My local retro store sells them for $70. One day i'm going to go there and binge on that and a bunch of games.
My freind from EA said the ps4 is having isusses with psn and caused alot of mess last weekend so there ya go lol!! And that genesis I saw at dallr general and you can't go wrong there, and dont feel bad I dont do ham either i like turkey white meat only, and my wife is the best cook I love her cooking mmmmmmmm.
So that's the problem! I bet you Sony probably mentioned it on their blog. I do wish they would e-mail it out too, considering I get a bunch of Playstation emails about their games. Man oh man, I can't wait for food tomorrow!
happy thanksgiving!!!!!!
And a Happy Thanksgiving to you as well!
