Good morning Pixlbit Nation! It is Friday and everyone should be ready to enjoy the weekend. I don’t know what it is but I’m a bit tired but I do need to run some errands after I type this up which isn’t too bad. Anyone have any plans for the weekend? I think I’m going to take it easy this weekend and not do much, maybe play some games, catch up on a bunch of TV shows I’ve missed and maybe watch some baseball. So since we have that out of the way let’s get started with Quick Hits With Chris!

A Week With A New Toy…

Last week while browsing through Slickdeals I spotted an item that I’ve been debating about for a while now. For a little while I’ve been thinking about getting a Chromebook because I’d like to bring a little laptop with me when I travel because I like having an actual computer than just relying on an iPad, plus I don’t want to drag my full size Macbook or PC laptop on trips. They are a bit too big and can get heavy (I know, first world problem) Anyways I was thinking and doing some online comparison shopping and then the ad popped up, $130 for a Asus laptop. I went to the website to place an order for it and it went back up to $150. That was a bit too much so I passed but decided to hit Best Buy anyways just in case I change my mind.

I hit the Best Buy and sure enough they have them in stock for $130. I quickly grab one, an HDMI cord, the CDs I showed you good people, and I checked out. Turns out the Best Buy folks are late in changing the listed price because it rang up at $150 but I got it at $130 (even this older guy who stood I kid you not 3 inches from me trying to push me out of the way for one, instead of I don’t know saying “Excuse me, can I grab one of those laptops")

I got to spend a couple of days playing with Windows 8 (I still don’t like it) but I knew Windows 10 was coming and I was going to slap it on this little bad boy. The 32GB onboard storage is a little low especially after having 22 GB after the operating system. I grabbed one of these

And I was good to go. The Windows 10 took a little longer than normal, which I’m assuming because the little laptop is a little cheap model but its now on there working fine, and I am happy (I think part of the Windows install used part of this Micro SD Card. I’m digging new Windows because that stupid (sorry PC fans) Title screen is gone unless I activate tablet mode. The speakers are nothing to write home about, the keyboard is smaller but I think the keys are full size. The only games I tried on it was the original Fallout (freebie on GOG) when it was Win 8, and X-Box Solitaire (I earned like five achievements). When I go on a weekend trip I’ll take it with me to see how it works away from home.

The mini laptop next to a full size iPad

The Kamehameha stickers are everywhere

And the screens

And here is my start screen with the little tiles. I will probably remove more of these things but for now, this works for me.

If I was going to college this would be perfect to bring to take notes, because the battery seems like it lasts for a full day before charging, it weighs next to nothing, its cheap, and the best part is that I like to say I bought the latest version of Office and for an extra $30 bucks I got a laptop.

Chris Takes Pictures

The first shot is of a random little guy that was in the front yard. It didn’t care that I was standing close by snapping pictures

One of many storm clouds rolling into the valley

A couple of shots that didn’t make the day trip blogs

A shot at the outlet stores with some mountains peeking through

While on top the mountain I took a picture of my view of my camera and feet

One of the windmill farms

And a couple of miles away from the windmill farms

It was a bit windy so of course you couldn’t see in front of you.

Thanks for you looking at my pictures!

Random Stuff

This popped up earlier this week on Reddit

Here’s the video of the John Cena prank call

After the Meek Mill “diss” track was released this popped up

I do love it when eateries like to poke fun at people. The Arby’s turnovers after the Rose Bowl were another favorite.

Here is a guy who built a Pacific Rim like Jaeger and can control it with his own movements. All made with Lego.

Pickups

Games

Impulse buy at Target because it was $10

I’ll give this game a try this weekend, and install the Vita version. I almost bought it a couple of times when it hit $15 and $13 but always put it down. Since it hit $10 I figured why not.

Music

I’ve been in an electronic mood and bought this on iTunes

Alright Pixlbit I guess its time to run some errands today. Hope you all have a good weekend!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

Today’s song is from the group The Other Two

They were part of New Order and you can tell by the sound of this track.

Office is too damn expensive, luckily I'm still using the free college version I got with my edu email account. And congrats on the laptop, I have a cheap ASUS notebook from a sale myself. Mine might be a bit bigger though.

Love the dragonfly picture.

Haven't heard the Meek Mill diss track, but Nicki Minaj's "you don't have the intellect to write my rhymes" quote was hilarious to me. Makes me wonder if that's really something you should tell people you ghostwrote ...

Oh and since that was a Whataburger tweet, you reminded me: I win the Whataburger/In N' Out debate. lol Of course, In N' Out made it to the final four and probably would have made it if it were more places. But I actually might like Culver's better than both. Wish we had one down here.

My mom should make her tech club kids build that robot! lol

I thought I saw a Ratchet and Clank title on sale this week on PLayStation Store. I should go check again.

I like the shadow use in the Phantogram pic

I actually like your ending song, but she looks bored in the video. lol
