Game: Titus the Fox: To Marrakech and Back (Amiga, Atari ST, MS-DOS, GB, GBC/1992)
Mascot for: Titus Interactive
Developed by the French developer Titus Interactive, this mascot platformer was released as Lagaf: Les Adventures de Moktar in 1991 and was ported to other regions in 1992 as Titus the Fox: To Marrakech and Back. Titus' girlfriend Suzy has been kidnapped (groan), so he sets off to get her back. The game has a whopping 15 levels. Titus will have to avoid dogs, construction workers, giant bees, and other terrifying monsters (I'm kidding). Titus can throw certain objects as well as pick up walking enemies from behind and throw them.

What happened: Unfortunately, the game received mostly negative reviews upon release. The game isn't infamously bad like Bubsy, but it's also not good enough to garner any kind of cult following. So it's a "meh" game, and those are the worst kind. Titus Interactive isn't the best developer either; if you recall, they are responsible for making the infamously awful Superman game on N64 (yes, that one).
Hey, man, giant bees would be pretty terrifying.
But not as much as construction workers!
Foxes seem a popular mascot. My favorite is the Tibetan Fox. Someone make a mascot of that.

Perhaps it's because the fox is so cunning (and yeah, it's a pretty animal too).
I never played this one. There were a lot of mascot platformers I skipped out on back then. If they were not available to rent at my local rental place, I usually didn't play them. And the ones I did rent, I wasn't very impressed with. I think the only one I rented that stuck out in my mind was Plok, but that was only because the music was good. I do remember Titus using that fox in their logo for a while. Titus the game company is out of business, so we won't be seeing that fox anymore either.
Definitely never heard of this one!
