Game: Boogerman: A Pick and Flick Adventure (Gen/1994, SNES/1995)

Mascot for: Interplay

Boogerman is by far the grossest mascot every conceived (he makes Wario look like a boyscout in comparison). The story is hilarious: Professor Stinkbaum has just created the Zap-o-Matic, which can transport pollution to the mysterious Dimension X-Crement. Eccentric millionaire Snotty Ragsdale comes to the lab to check it out, sneezes in the process, and causes a portal to open. A giant arm comes through the portal and steals the machine's power source--Snotrium 357. Snotty rushes into the men's room to change into his superhero alter ego, Boogerman. He jumps through the portal to save the day. Okay, so as Boogerman, you can burp, fart, and throw boogers at enemies. Get this: the Genesis version is rated MA-13 (Teen, basically) but the SNES version is rated K-A (Everyone), so I'm guessing that Nintendo must have censored quite a bit.

What happened: I'm guessing that parents didn't like this game since it's sole purpose was to be as gross as possible. Boogerman did appear in Clay Fighter 63 1/3 (N64) as a playable character. But that's it. However, the creators attempted to revive the franchise in 2013 with the help of a kickstarter, but they didn't get anywhere near the amount they needed, so the game was canceled. Boogerman is disgusting, BUTT I think he should make a comeback because he SNOT a bad mascot at all, so don't POO POO his game if he comes back. (I'm so weird) Seriously, though, he is one of the most unique mascots of the '90s.

I loved all the characters in Clay Fighters so when I saw Boogerman got his own game I always wanted to play it. Haven't got to it yet though.

Same here. Unfortunately the cartridge is a bit pricey, but you can always go the emulation route.

I don't really like gross things, so this isn't for me. Grossness was kind of a theme in the 9os though, what with Gak, Nickelodeon slime, Ren n Stimpy, etc.

It was totally a thing, and it doesn't always work. You have to have a certain sense of humor to really enjoy gross comedy.

Believe it or not, I have been known to laugh at fart jokes and potty humor.  But Boogerman was a bit too much.  I do like that he was in ClayFighter, though.  I do wish I could've gotten a chance to play the N64 game.  That's a series in need of a comeback!

Do you mean the Clay Fighter series? I'm with you! (love CF 63 1/3)
