I'm diving back into Skylanders this week with the Giants game, the second in the series. There are 48 core figures (found on this list). I collected all of them back in 2015-6, but some are as variants like Legendary or LightCore. I got what I could from my area's GameStops when they were on sale at the end of the Toys-2-Life era, roughly 2011-2018.
Some favorite variants I have are this Molten Hog Dog.
And Pumpkin-Head Eye-Brawl, a giant figure (my fav).
Jade Flashwing.
Punch Pop-Fizz (voiced by Bobcat Goldthwait hilariously).
Glow-in-the-dark Cynder.
And several LightCore variants like this LightCore Eruptor. These light up in special ways when on the Portal of Power.
I'm into it again. Oh no.
Being able to cover all the Skylanders games was definitely a feather in my game reviewing cap.

Maybe a long time ago. I don't remember anything about them.
The toys-to-life fad flared up and burned out really quickly. At one point Skylanders had a cartoon, where the fire monster was voiced by Jonathan Banks, AKA Mike Ehrmantraut from Breaking Bad. Just a couple of years later and it was all gone except for Nintendo's Amiibos. And even Nintendo seemed to be sunsetting the Amiibo concept for awhile, though now they've started really putting a lot of them out in the wake of the Switch 2's launch.
I watched that Skylanders TV show on youtube and kinda liked it. I especially liked Norm MacDonald as Glumshanks. I can't get him out of my head. I wish he had done the games too.
