NWPWF Video Game Cage Match Ultimate Slam

Who is the best of 2019? YOU DECIDE

Hey, folks! If you've been listening to Nerds Without Pants this year, you know we debuted a new segment: Video Game Cage Match! This is a one on one death match between games selected by the listeners, and then judged by the most arbitrary criteria possible. We've had such memorable match ups as The Witcher 3 vs Bloodborne, Mortal Kombat XL vs Street Fighter V, and Final Fantasy VII vs Quest 64. Yeah, you read that right. Anyway, we thought it would be fun to have a game of the year cage match when we come back from hiatus in January, and that's where you come in!

You can start by nominating your game of the year in the comments. You don't need to be a regular listener of the show to participate, but I'm asking that you only nominate one game each. Then I'll take those nominations and put them in a bracket so we can winnow the list down to two games that will do battle at the end of our game of the year podcast. It should be a lot of fun, and I hope if you don't normally listen to the show you'll check this one out. Thanks in advance!

the best "game" I played in 2019 is the Super Metroid x ALttP combo randomizer. https://samus.link/

Since I assume you are talking about games actually released in 2019, my favorite games of 2019 would be Sekiro:  Shadows Die Twice

If we're counting it as a new release and not a late port, and I think it has enough new content to qualify, Dragon Quest XI S for Switch.

If not, then Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Those two games stood out for me in a year packed with great releases.

My favorite game I played this year is Spider-Man for sure but keeping it in 2019 I'll have to go Control.
