Dogfight 1942 Divebombing Onto XBLA, PSN, Steam This Year

Insert Top Gun reference here.

City Interactive is delivering some arcade-style shoot-em-up goodness later this year in the form of Dogfight 1942. Originally titled Combat Wings: The Great Battles of World War II, the game had been intended as a retail game. However, along with the name change, the game will now be a downloadable only title that will be available on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and Steam when it's released.

The game will have various aircrafts from the time period, such as the P-38 Lightning and the Messerschmitt 109, "incredibly intuitive" controls, and will offer missions that real WWII pilots embarked on, ranging from dogfights in the skies to protecting positions as a gunner. A demo will be released prior to the game's release and it will also be showcased at E3 2012.

'DOGFIGHT 1942'

WARSAW, POLAND, May 30, 2012 –City Interactive today announced their new arcade aerial combat game Dogfight 1942. Entering the digital space with content and quality traditionally expected of a console title, Dogfight 1942 will launch on Microsoft Xbox Live Arcade, Sony PlayStation Network and Steam later this year.

"Dogfight 1942 is the most accessible air combat game ever to be released on these platforms," said Lukasz Hacura, Executive Producer for the title at City Interactive. "The game controls are incredibly intuitive, reducing the need for lengthy tutorials and making it fun for any type of gamer and at the same time remaining challenging enough for harder-core flight game fans."

Previously announced as Combat Wings, Dogfight 1942 has been re-envisioned and recreated to feature more than 20 types of aircraft --from the fabled P-38 Lightning and Britain's Spitfire to the feared Messerschmitt 109 and Japanese Kate -- players are challenged with the same missions as real WWII pilots, ranging from bombing runs and dog fights to manning defensive positions such as a gunner on a bomber or anti-aircraft site.
Lukasz Hacura adds "What's really unique about Dogfight 1942 is the fact that the game will be digitally distributed and therefore available at a price level that is typical for digital games but with production values of a full price retail release."

A demo of Dogfight 1942 will be released prior to launch.

Dogfight 1942 will be playable at E3 2012 in South Hall, Level 2 - Room #307, and available for download later this year on Xbox Microsoft Xbox Live Arcade, Sony PlayStation Network and Steam. More information can be found online at www.city-interactive.com.
