Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition Arrives as Downloadable Content

Fans told Capcom they prefer a downloadable expansion, so that's how Capcom will deliver it.

During TGS 2009, Capcom announced Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition, while Sony was showcasing their new motion controller.

Today, Capcom announced that the Alternative Edition will be delivered as downloadable content for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in North America, Europe, and Australia. Capcom also stated that a Resident Evil 5 game disc will be required in order to access the additional content.

According to Capcom-Unity, the decision was the result of a poll Capcom posted on their website. The final numbers were 1,500 votes for downloadable content, and 900 votes for a physical disc.

It is unclear whether Japan will also get Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition as downloadable content or a physical disc.

Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition will be available in Spring 2010. As of yet, no price point has been announced.
