Microsoft is teaming up with Virgin Gaming later this year.
Virgin and Microsoft are joining forces to bring online gaming tournaments to Xbox Live. There will be a variety of different tournaments, Virgin promises, including both free-to-play and paid-entry tournaments, some of which will offer cash prizes.

Based on an open-source PC game that was derived from a Quake mod, Nexuiz is heavily inspired by its illustrious gaming background. Sounds like an old-school gamer’s dream, right? Unfortunately, it’s not. While Nexuiz brings us classic gameplay from a forgotten era; it also delivers an outdated matchmaking system along with it.

OnLive, the streaming service for PCs, Mac, and its own micro console for TVs, has $5 deals every Friday for a randomly chosen title. This week's deal is for Unreal Tournament 3. OnLive runs off of remote servers so all computers with a internet connection 3 Mbps or faster can enjoy any title on the service.

Last weekend I attended a Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament in Ottawa, Ontario (Canada). It’s certainly not my first one, but it’s the first since I’ve joined PixlBit. Despite being pretty small (the largest I’ve been to had around 243 entrants for Melee and around the same for Brawl), it was a lot of fun, and I got to hang out with a bunch of people I hadn’t seen in far too long. I’ve been playing the game competitively for years now, and with all the people I’ve met and the stuff we’ve done, I don’t see any reason to stop. Also, insert something sappy about friends and making memories .
