Without him, PixlBit wouldn't be the place it is today.

When 1up started the process of shutting down, there was one person who seemed to lead to charge to congregate the community in a single place. After his first visit here, it wasn't long before a slew of new members arrived. The site came alive and the real story of PixlBit began - the one that involves all of you. The person I'm referring to is, of course, Michael Alvarado, otherwise known as Michael117.

Sadly, I learned today that Michael died by his own hand early last month. I know that as time has gone on, the PixlBit community has also scattered in the wind, but some of you out there likely remember and interacted with him, especially in those early days. He's someone I spoke with and interacted with often, though I too lost touch with him over the years.

I'm devastated by this news, but I'd like to celebrate his life and all that he did to bring this community together. Michael, I hope that you have the peace you were looking for, but you will be missed. Rest in peace, friend.

Thanks for this, Nick.

Michael and I clicked from pretty much our first interaction back on 1up. We had some common interests outside of gaming and he trusted me enough that we could talk about family and othe issues. I was the first person to call him a great-horned owl fledgling, a description that he loved. We fell out of touch a while ago, something that I regret. He was a kind soul, I wish his inner demons hadn't gotten the best of him. I hope his next life is easier on him than this one was.

So sad. I interacted with him here from time to time, but didn't really know him that well. Too bad he couldn't reconnect here.

I don't think I interacted much with him, so there's not much that I can say. The shock and sadness when a former or active member of this community passes on will always be felt, specially to those that were closer to them. My condolences to his family, and his close friends. Rest in peace Michael.
