Sega Announces The House of the Dead: Overkill - Extended Cut

On their blog, Sega announced today that The House of the Dead: Overkill will be making its way to the PlayStation 3 in a special Extended Cut edition. The new version of the game will feature a few improvements over the original Wii version of the game, specifically support for the PlayStation Move controller, improved visuals and support for stereoscopic 3D, and two new scenarios beyond the original seven levels of the first game. Players will be able to grab the game this fall, on October 25.

Color me surprised.

I knew Sega was planning on doing something with the HotD: Overkill IP, but personally I think this is kind of a waste. Anybody with a Wii owns an HD console (myself included), but I frankly can't find myself to spend more money on a light-gun shooter. Not to mention you need a 3D TV with glasses in order to see the effect.

That, and I though HotD: Overkill was very over-rated. That's just me though.

I had a lot of fun with this game, but it's not going to make me buy it again. I would buy a sequel preferably for Project cafe.

This sounds like a worthy rerelease, but it's hard to justify buying this without currently having a PlayStation Move. I already played the original to death (over a weekend rental at that), so I'm not sure I should really bother.
