When I was a kid I had a Russian Blue cat.  I wanted to give him a Russian name but I couldn't think of any.(hey, I was a kid).  My dad suggested I name him after the Russian guy from the old Star Trek TV show.  So we named him Chekov.  And I'm not even a big Star Trek fan either!  When I watched the new Star Trek movie from a few years ago, whenever I heard them call Chekov, I expected the reply to be a meow!

Chekov the cat was pretty smart, though.  I taught him how to open doors, play fetch, and even use the toilet instead of a litterbox.  He was also a good cat, too.  We even took him with us on a road trip from Texas to Alabama and back and he had no problems at all!

That's a pretty cool name! I dig Star Trek. 

He sounds super smart. Did he flush? Zelda can't even walk the back of the couch without falling. Admittedly, she is a little over weight. ;) 

She's not too bright, but very lovable. We have a cat named Q*Bert too and he is the intelligent yet slightly mischievous. We often refer to them as Pinky and the Brain because, well...

Yes Chekov was very smart.  He could flush, but I decided that he should just use the litterbox because I was afraid he might flush himself down the toilet while we were away.

When I was in college, people said I was like Pinky and my roommate was like The Brain.  Not sure if I should ike that or not...

Chekov is long gone, but now I have a dog named Venus.  She's a mutt that's probably a cross of a Chow and a black lab mix.  Very calm and gentle dog, though.

Yay cats!  We have 3 of them. :)

5 indoor cats! and about 5 outside neighborhood cats.....And when one indoor cat gets sick...the other 4 get sick too. I've been to the vet this year more than I've been myself to the doctor in the past 3 years!

We have 5 cats as well. Most of them are big,lazy sluggos that love to lay about. One is always found in the position Zelda is in. Such a trusting cat. Most laid back pet in our house,that one.
