Happy Turkey Day everyone! I hope everyone is able to relax, enjoy some football, and pig out later today. It's morning here, and I just brewed some Starbucks coffee (we have starbucks on holidays), and I'm looking forward to the rest of the day. I am sort of dreading the Eagles game though!
Anyway, I was thinking about it, and we all have things to be thankful for, but since this is a gaming site, I was wondering what you all are thankful for when it comes to video games.
For my part, I am thankful for indie games, and the wide variety of titles we have these days on Steam and other avenues. There's no doubt some great AAA games these days, but it's the smaller, riskier games that I enjoy. I'm thankful that we're at a point where we have true auteurs when it comes to game design, both in the AAA space, and in the indie space, and in between, and that people with vision can finally create the games they desire.
There's a lot of complaints we can aim at the current state of gaming, but personally, I find we're living in a golden age that benefits all of our tastes -- there's something for everyone these days, and niche titles can thrive as well as blockbusters. I love it.
Anyway, that's about it. What are you thankful for???
I'm thankful for Pixlbit and for all my gaming friends. I'm also thankful I have a working PS3.
My PS3 disc drive doesn't work. Well, at least I can play digital games. I'm thankful for Pixlbit too.
Currently I'm thankful for Nintendo, as they seem to be one of the only game makers doing anything that interests me right now. If it weren't for them, I'd be a sad gamer today.
I'm also thankful I can review games on a web site. It may not be very big and glamorous, and I'm not famous like all those YouTube upstarts, but at least I still have my foot in the door and have been doing this since most of those YouTube goobs were in diapers!
And I'm thankful that Pixlbit filled in the void that 1up left. It makes me very happy and appreciative when you folks read my blogs and reviews. You just don't realize how much that means to me.
I never read your blogs and reviews or reply to your posts. Oops. I also never tell lies.
I'd be thankful for Nintendo too if I had a Wii U. It would be the first thing I'd buy if I ever had money I didn't already owe.
Happy Thanksgiving Cary.
we're thankful for you too, Cary!
I'm thankful for all the cool shit on my PS4 in general. Happy THanksgiving everyone!
PS4 is pretty badass.
So is the Lions offense right now.
It's ok though, I'm pretty nervous about Cowboys v. Carolina.
Don't get too excited. They played the Eagles today. Just remember that. The Eagles. Yuk.
I feel the same about Cowboys. NFC East suuuuuuuuucks.
I think we're going to be both sad as we watch the Giants go into the playoffs.
They are 5-5 and leading the division. Whaaa?
The Vita, which ties in with your thankfulness of indies.
in a surprising twist Black Ops III as well.
yeah you know, I'm curious about that game after not giving one flying fuck about years of COD. How is it?
The past three years I have been very disinterested in COD until the day it releases and then have picked them up. The multi-player definitely feels better than the past couple of years to me.
I'm thankful another video game crash didn't happen this generation. With phones and tablets stealling a lot of the mainstream away, I thought maybe big AAA games were going to disappear along with the consoles. Thankfully, 2016 looks very strong for gamers. And Fallout 4 was advertised prominently during football games today. Things are not crashing.
no, they're not. I don't think that's going to ever happen again in our lifetime. Video games are going pretty strong.
yea, as the biggest entertainment industry in the history of the world, I think your right.
you're awesome too, Captain N!!!
I'm thankful that there are so many different options when it comes to video games. Being able to play games on a console, PC/Mac, Tablet, and in web browsers gives folks who share this fun hobby so many choices.
yeah we do have more choices than ever. It's not bad!
