Dragon Age Origins is one of my favorite WRPG's. It's funny, because when I first watched my brother playing it when it came out, I thought: "What an ugly fucking game."
Fast forward about five years later, and I try it on my computer. I love it. Somehow, Bioware took the cliched Tolkien esque world of elves and magic and made it feel real and unique. Origins is a very bleak game, and I'm not usually into that sort of thing, but the characters are so well realized and the world feels so lived in, that I couldn't help but get sucked in.
But alas, I never finished it. When offered the choice of where to start my branching quest, I chose the dwarf city, and got stuck on the big boss at the end... I tried everying to beat it, lowering the difficulty, different strategies, but I couldn't do it. And I gave up.
I'd like to try it again from scratch someday. What's neat about the game, is depending on what kind of character you start with, you get a different origin and beginning of the game, offering replay value that the other Dragon Age games don't.
I have great respect for this series, and have played them all, but won none of them.
I've won none of them either.
It's probably pretty common.
I tried Origins and Inquisition and couldn't make it very far through either one. Bioware's game design just bounces off of me pretty hard. In the case of Inquisition I'm pretty sure I got it because it was on sale and I was desperate for a new PS4 game, as PS4 and X1 pickings were a bit slim when DA:I came out. I prefer Bethesda, and now I'm currently playing my way through the Switch version of Witcher 3. My game tastes run more to Dragon Quest than Dragon Age, LOL.
I like Bethesda but can't get into those games. I prefer BioWare but I haven't finished shit lately.
I've played a few hours of Origins. I'd like to go back to it. I have the digital version on my Xbox.
It's a great game.
I've played through all 3.
I know!
