One last review blog dump for the end of the year. Here’s some more reviews I’ve written recently at GamerDad.com. Please click on the links and read as many as you can, and maybe post a ‘like’ or comment or two. I’d appreciate it. OK let’s begin!
I have a few half days of gaming in my week that I thought, from hear on out, I would devote to handheld games. Then I'd attack the console stuff on full days off from work. That is, barring any other distraction. So this week I played 3DS and then returned to Xbox Series S.
Mario & Luigi: Brothership was just released, so I thought it would be fun to rate all the Mario & Luigi games that have come out so far. There might be some slight spoiler warnings here and there, but I’ll keep you posted on those. We’ll start from the worst in the series to the best. OK, let’s begin!
This would be January 2025 when I will be focusing on the first generation of consoles and games from the 70s in general, plus some digging into even older stuff if I run out of games to play. It will be the beginning of the year and the beginning of games, video or otherwise. Here's the first list I wrote up:
It was all Switch this week. I feel like i'm cramming in playing the systems I largely ignored during the year in this last month. Better late than never.
I finished Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain finally. I then picked up EDF 5 on a black Friday sale and started playing that. I'm debating whether to continue with it into December.
It’s Christmas time, and I’ve got some presents for you! Game reviews I’ve recently written over at GamerDad.com. Just what you wanted, right? Right? Anyway, please click on the links and read as many as you can, and maybe post a ‘like’ or comment or two. I’d appreciate it. And just for fun, in the comments section, give me a pretend Christmas present. It can be anything you want. It’s the thought that counts...literally! Then I’ll reply with a pretend present for you! It's fun when it’s fun. OK let’s begin!
I'm still working out my 2025 plan of going through the console generations month to month. However, I recently started thinking about game genre's, ones I like and one's I'm curious about. So I'm starting to work them into the schedule, featuring a specific genre per generation. Here's what I got so far, subject to change of course.
I finished Mass Effect Andromeda and switched consoles to PS4. After playing a few games there, I settled on Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain. I am now going to battle bugs for the rest of the month.
I've played 55 hours now in Mass Effect: Andromeda. The missions seem endless but I think I'm coming towards the end of them. I think I aught to tackle the main story again soon, but I'm having fun hearing all the side stories and interacting with the characters, sometimes to the point of romance.
I’ve got a feast of game reviews I’ve recently written over at GamerDad.com for you all to chow down on. Please click on the links and read as many as you can and maybe post a ‘like’ or comment or two. I’d appreciate it. After reading them all, you should have nice fat bellies! OK let’s begin!
I'm playing games from 2019-2021 this month (after I finish with ME: Andromeda), and so this is my 2020 list of favorities and ones I'd like to play if I get the time. The list is in order of release. It's as if these were the games I bought day-one - some, yes, but most no.
I've come up with a 2025 plan for my gaming. The goal is to put the entire history of video games into 12 parts so I can travel in time over the course of the year (I do this for music and literature as well). Here's what I came up with.
I'm 25 hours into Mass Effect Andromeda. I've stopped the main quest to do side quests because it seems I'm about to take on The Archon, which might be the final boss run. I'm building settlements and bonding with teammates. I especially like flying around in space, viewing all the astronomical objects. Roaming around in the Nomad planetside is fun too. My only issue is nav points being confusing on certain planets and missions. It seems better to just ignore them sometimes. I'm enjoying all the side stories, character development and random dialog and text you come across. It's a good time.
It's November and another shift to a new range of years I want to focus on in gaming. This month is 2019-2021. Nothing special about that, just 3 years in the history of gaming. I guess you could say the transition to our current consoles: Xbox Series X|S and PS5 in 2020 (Switch out since 2017).
Playing Mass Effect Andromeda, long play. I am rather hooked on it again. This time I intend to go all the way with it. I'm ignoring most of the side missions I got sidetracked on the last few times. I'd like to see the main story play out for once. I'm enjoying it.
Those epic RPGs shot me down. I couldn't take it any more. Neither could I take my rediculous listomania. I was totally overwelmed and so dove into some lighter, shorter fair and found some cool games. Check, check, check it out (to the sound of the Beastie Boys song with those words).
Just in time for Halloween, this batch of game reviews I’ve written recently at GamerDad.com features all sorts of spooky stuff, like witches and bats and alien bugs! Well OK, it’s really not that spooky, this IS me we’re talking about here. But please click on the links and read as many as you can anyway and maybe post a ‘like’ or comment or two. I’d appreciate it. OK let’s begin!
Can't stop, won't stop. This is my playlist for upcoming November. Recipe: open Metacritic. Limit it to the years 2019-2021. Go from highest to lowest ranked, choosing games I want to play or replay.
I finished the main story of Ni No Kuni II. I kept going for a good long while after that too, wracking up about 60 hours of gameplay but ultimately stopped when a sale for Dragon Quest XI happened. I'm back into that now, probably for the rest of the month. Darn these games are long.
I recently purchased a refurbished laptop (nothing fancy, one of the Acer Aspire models) after having spent so many years without a laptop (the Samsung Chromebook I own still works but its OS stopped receiving support two years ago). I don't know why I went so far like this. The idea was not to acquire a gaming PC/laptop but something good enough to handle jack-of-all-trades utilities. So far, it's worked out well for me.
It's all Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom - Prince's Edition on my Xbox Series S right now. I am hooked like a Sega Bass Fishing Bass.
I never thought I'd be looking back at the Xbox One and needing it, but I finally found some games I can only play there. I can get one for $100 too, which is a nice price for a console.
