I guess this is a little late, seeing as how we are headed into February as of tomorrow, but here are my top games of 2017.

is fairly depressing, but I really loved all the different graphics styles and gameplay mechanics the game used. It only lasts about 3 hours, so like Firewatch, I'm glad I got it on sale.

So I’ve been checked out for about a week but I had a good reason: my baby brother got married! The last week has been a little hectic with all the running around, collecting my thoughts for the Best Man speech, and the traveling. Since I am in sunny Southern California, I took a trip up to the Bay Area for the festivities and well I had some things planned. I bought Jade Empire for the iPad because I was going to play this game non-stop in the airport, on the plane, and anytime I had a free moment, I brought my everyday laptop over my travel laptop because I wanted to play music and sneak in a little gaming during down moments in the hotel room. Things didn’t go exactly as planned but I still had a ton of fun.

This the final wave of figures for Disney Infinity 2.0. These added one or two new figures to the various Play Sets plus one more for Toy Box. I'm missing just a few of them. Here's what I got.

The figures were released in waves. This was the second one and it included one or two characters you could use in Toy Box. No new Play Sets for any of these. I don't have them all but just the ones shown.

I got Agents of Mayhem as a rental today but it took a while to install so I played a few hours of Zombi and then got wrapped up in Army of Two and didn't stop until I had beaten it.

2017 will probably go down as a very good year in gaming.  We got a new 3-D Zelda game, a new 3-D Mario game, 2-D Sonic and Metroid games…heck, we even technically got a new Animal Crossing game!  Well, we also got a new Bubsy game, but let’s try to stay positive.  It was a way better year in gaming than 2016, anyway.  So now it’s time for my Best Games of 2017 Awards Show!  Keep in mind that no outside opinions went into the making of this list.  It’s just my own picks.  And if a game is missing from my list, it either didn’t appeal to me as much, or I just simply haven’t played it yet.  Can’t play all the games out there, you know!  And I did kind of break the rules with my Game of the Year award, so expect some surprises.  Anyway, let’s get started!

Today I tried to do maintenance on my PS2 Slim, play Back to the Future: The Video Game and Patapon Remastered, and watch Tom Baker era Doctor Who. Three of those ended in complete frustration.

Had just a few hours today to goof off, so I played some virtual Pinball and Tell Tale's Back to the Future: The Game on Xbox One; that is, after I discovered for sure that my PS2 wouldn't work.

That's right. BaD is approaching. And while I know we are all busy it's always great to get people participating even if they don't blog every day. I'm trying to think of a theme to do for the blogs, but I haven't come up with anything yet. It's pretty amazing we've been here on Pixlbit for what - five or six years now?  Life is crazy. And while we don't have the traffic like 1up, I feel this is a more intimate place, and I've gotten to know all of you much better.

I figured out how to create my own Championships in Forza Horizon 3. I made one with all Ausie cars and raced it for an acheivement and then started another with 10 races and 100 miles of track. It's a marathon and I got through 7 of the races before time ran out on the day.

We've had a lot of sub-zero cold, a blizzard, and another snow storm since I last posted. I had to work during the blizzard. They eventually closed the market at 5 PM, so I did get to go home early. And the storm on Wednesday happened on my day off, and I spent the whole day gaming.

So here we are, Friday, and I am ready to do well I don’t know what I am going to do today. I mean I could go out because it is CD Friday and I like to look for new music but at the same time I should be continuing my organizing of my digital files because that was one of my goals this year. In any case Happy Friday Pixlpeeps and let’s get started with Quick Hits.

Hey everybody!  I’ve got more links to reviews I’ve written recently at GamerDad.com!  I hope you get a chance to look at some of these especially, because I just got back from PAX South last week and wrote my article on that. Also managed to snag a box of Super Mario Cereal and wrote about it, and I got a few fairly high-profile game reviews, too.  So please click on as many links as you can and maybe even post a like or comment or two.  I’d really appreciate it.  OK let’s begin!

So I just finished the new Doom. It is aptly titled Doom. And I was thinking what a damn great game. It took forever to come out. I enjoyed the hell out of it. Yes, pun intended. I loved that went back to old school Doom 1, Doom 2 mechanics. Great gameplay and excellent pace.

Persona 5 Is Finished

So last night around 4am, I finished Persona 5. The game took me almost a year because Id take breaks to work on other games. I knew P5 would take me quite awhile to finish so I couldnt always dedicate time to it since I needed to finish 12 games. Over the last part of 2017 I actually got myself to final area of the game but never got around to fully finishing it. I kinda didnt want to, Ive enjoyed this game so much and while yes, I can do a New Game+ I just feel like the first run through is the most special one. Atleast for me it is. I took down the final boss and oooh boy did it give me a run for my money. I normally went to all the boss fights pretty well prepared and while I had trouble with the second big boss*Not leveled enough* I didnt have no where near a long fight. It felt long, there were moments I thought "Well fuck, Im dead" but lived luckily. I do wanna write up a review, might be a mini one summing up my feelings overall about the game and its themes. I still am working on my Ultra Moon review and after my depressed episode yesterday Im glad I didnt delete it. It needs work but it can be done, I just really started second guessing things. Regardless I should have Ultra Moon out before January ends for sure. Kinda hoping for today technically but I wont count my chickens before they hatch. P5 Ill start next and depending on how big or small it is depends when it will see the light of day. I now only have 10 games for 2018!

Well Happy Tuesday Pixlpeeps! Yesterday the plan was to sleep in on MLK Day but in my excitement I forgot to turn off my alarm and I woke up at my normal time. Oh well. So instead of blogging on my normal day here I am and guess what? I played some games throughout the week including one I found in my library that most likely I got through a bundle. Let’s recap all this goodness!

Update: Hiring a Hitman to take out Shantae. Plus Zwei!

I've put 26 hours into Hitman 2016. That would be a healthy amount of time for any action/stealth game. But I've spent that just on the first episode. And there are 7 or 8 of them. Needless to say, I like this game. I've always liked Hitman, since I was introduced to the series with Hitman: Silent Assassin, the second game in the series. On PS2, in an age when games like this (aimed at the PC puzzle solving and immersive sim crowds) were not that common on consoles.  But back to the new game:  26 hours playing the same level over and over again. Not only can you spend a lot of that time figuring out your own way to pull off assassinations and mastering the lay of the land, item placement, NPC schedules and behavior, etc. but there are a host of developer assigned challenges to complete. You'd think after 26 hours and dozens of mission restarts I'd have everything figured out, and I mostly do, but some of these challenges throw you real curveballs and have you going back to pay attention to things you completely overlooked.

So get this, yesterday I thought I was going to be super busy today so I started writing a Quick Hits entry and sure enough I got caught up in some other things and here we are. I have an unfinished entry and I figured I would just cannibalize that entry for this entry because as it turns out I do have some time to get you good people updated.
