Hey everyone! Gasp I am alive I know! and...I have way too many messages to count so I will read what I can from everyone.
The terms “social media marketing” and “content marketing” are often used interchangeably. While they do have some similarities, they are two different digital marketing channels with some important differences. Each has it's own strengths and weaknesses. Here's a look at how these two popular marketing channels measure up.
Social media marketing
Social media marketing got its start around ten years ago with the advent of Facebook. Since then dozens of other social media platforms have cropped up, some popular and others not so much. Besides Facebook, some of the other notable platforms are Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, Instagram, and Youtube. What all of these have in common is that they are online communities where businesses and consumers can interact in a casual way. Businesses quickly learned that when using the social media channel, self promotion simply didn't work. Rather, social media became a way for businesses and consumers to communicate with each other, typically on the consumers' terms. It also became a great way for businesses to seek valuable feedback from customers and to handle customer service interactions.
Content marketing
Content marketing has a lot of overlap with social media marketing. That's because content marketing is, simply put, the creation and sharing of content to promote a brand. Content includes surveys, videos, and text that can be posted on any number of social media platforms. Essentially, businesses that are doing social media marketing are probably doing a bit of content marketing as well. Content marketing isn't necessarily a new thing, but it is a newer term for an old practice. The governing idea behind content marketing is that businesses can create content to educate and entertain consumers so that when they have a need, they will look to the business that provided information regarding it. Content can take many forms from videos, to blog articles, to ebooks. As with social media marketing, self promotion doesn't work well with content marketing. Publishing reliable, unbiased information does.
Integrated marketing
The big mistake many businesses make is thinking they need to choose one or the other. In actuality, digital marketing efforts are most successful when multiple channels such as social media and content marketing are integrated. The two together can be more effective than either can be alone. For instance, social media platforms are a great outlet for various forms of content. A business might create instructional videos and choose to upload them on a youtube channel. Or a business might use Facebook to conduct surveys and post informational content. On the other hand, other content marketing efforts such as a company blog can be used to drive consumers to a business's social media profile(s). When these two popular marketing channels are integrated, they benefit each other and contribute to each others' success.
If you're thinking about which marketing strategy to use, consider a strategy that will combine the best from social media marketing and content marketing.

So. It was my birthday on Wednesday, and I got the best birthday present ever: An eviction notice from college. I'm $2500 and have no way to pay it, so I guess I'm leaving. Going back home where I have no internet and no room for myself. So I guess I'm sleeping on the couch for the next 8 months while I try and save to get back into college. I could move in with friends, but then I wouldn't be able to save up as much money.
So I'm gonna drive to Dallas for SGC and then try to drink myself into a coma.
This past week at GamerDad.com, I took a look at some books and games featuring obscure and not so obscure Namco game characters. But they’re all pretty strange so I dubbed it “Nutty Namco Week.” So here are links to those along with a few other reviews. Please click on and read as many as you can, and maybe even leave a comment or two. I’d appreciate it. OK, on to the reviews.
Well hello Pixlbit. Just wanted to post something about these editions. If you haven't heard, Bungie announced the two collector's editions for Destiny. Which are the Limited and Ghost Edition. I usually don't buy these crazy expensive editions for games. The last one I got was the Gears of War 3 collector's edition with the Marcus Phoenix statue. I also got the Lancer Replica. I don't know why I went so crazy in buying those things, but I did anyway.
In my dream, Pixlbit had a store in the real world that was part internet cafe, arcade, toy store, water park, and hotel. Here's what happened.
I pride myself on being able to see different sides of issues, but if you support "coal rolling," which is the expensive and harmful-to-your-own-vehicle act of blowing black smoke everywhere to protest Obama and environmentalists via adding smoke stacks to your truck, I ... what the fuck is wrong with you and why are you so dumb?
So what about July. We're a week into it already. I had thought there was nothing special this month to interest me, but after looking over the release schedule on allgame.com and Metacritic, I found several games I'm excited about. It goes to show, that sometimes games just appear out of the ether last minute like this.
Today is the 14th anniversary of the release of Final Fantasy IX, one of my favorite games of all time. The timeless tale of Zidane, Dagger, Steiner, Vivi, and the other characters lodged itself into my heart the first time I played it in my shitty rundown apartment in San Francisco, and ever since I’ve continued to play it every few years, because it brings me joy I can’t really find in anywhere else. According to Wikipedia, it’s the highest rated FF game on Metacritic, and for good reason: it’s the fucking bomb.
Hello everyone, welcome to the second day of EVO Week here. Before we get on with the topic for today, just wanted to post the official stream schedule for the weekend.
Good afternoon Pixlbit nation! So how was that Freedom weekend? Eat anything on a stick, blow something up, and hear Lee Greenwood at least a hundred times? It was nothing but steak all weekend in my little corner of the internet, along with watching the big fireworks display from my house, and then watching this one guy in another neighborhood next to mine try to out do the big show (I don’t know where he gets them, but he has the fancy fireworks that go up and blow up. Not the funky stuff that is sold by church groups and Target).
Hey guys. It's been a while since I wrote a Plus10Damage article. Nearly two months actually. But I'm back baby, discussing such things as my gaming burnout, whether gaming addiction exists, and how stupid Men's Rights campaigners are, because you all totally and 100% agreed with me last time :p.
EVO Week 3rd Strike: Day 1 Get Ready
After a very productive May, June was slower on the games front. We took two little trips during the month (yay, vacation!) and while I did play games during that time, it was mainly just party and multiplayer stuff, which doesn't do much for my backlog.
