Hello Pixlbit! It’s is a nice Friday here on my side of the World Wide Web, and I thought I’d try something new. Instead of having one long blog once a week, I thought about having a shorter blog towards the end of the week to take care of some minor stuff, any cool stuff found, and what not. I thought I’d call these blogs “Quick Hits With Chris”
UPDATE #1: The flooding in my city is much worse than I expected. I haven't seen all of it but based on some of what the news has revealed, we have some entire neighborhoods and trailer parks under water in the city right now. I think calls for evacuation were given out before hand but theoretically there could be many dead in these areas by our rivers if people didn't listen or didn't get out in time. Also, the town of Longmont south of here has been cut into thirds by the St. Vrain river as it's flooded over the banks. My Aunt and Uncle live there, but their house is higher up and away from the river, we will need to call them to make sure. We have family strewn all across the front range here, and many of their towns have rivers that are flooding and in various states of emergency it would seem.
My friend today told me about a guy at his work that sold him a Heavy Sixer for $1 with a bunch of carts. Now, I'm pretty knowledgable about games and systems, but I had to scratch my head. What the heck is a Heavy SIxer? A minute's thinking had my best guess at some sort of Atari 2600 because they're often refered to as six or four switch. Sure enough, yes. It's a six switch AVCS, but not any six switcher, but the very first AVCS put into production! It's heavier than the more common decks and has some slight visual differences. It's guts and controllers are apparently a little better quality than subsequent versions as well.
I came across a few more game ads for Batman Arkham Origins and Scribblenauts: Unmasked and scanned them. For BAO I thought I'd look back at all the Batman Arkham ads since I managed to collect one for each game over the years.
I have made a decision, not a knee jerk one, but a long thought out one. My views have differed greatly from the mass collective here and I feel it is time to back away from this forum, and give my opinions on games that are coming up, that I extremely dislike, and for the regurgitation of old games that were good in there time a rest. I hate where gaming is going now and I am really disturbed by mindless following of certain brands. Really it has been fun here I just can not do it any more right now. I am not renewing my rewards cards nor am I buying any new games. So until I find interest again or I.... Well I will at least read the responses to this post. I may not comment.
Hey folks, guess what this Sunday, Sept. 15 is? It’s my birthday! Yay! It’s been a tradition for me to have a pretend birthday party on my blog, so I’ll do the same thing this year! In the comments section, if you like, you can give me a pretend birthday present! Pretend birthday presents are great because they can be anything you want, and they won’t cost you any money! It’s the thought that counts…literally! And if you give me a pretend birthday present, you can have a piece of my pretend birthday cake. Heck, if you like, you can have a million slices, since it’s pretend. My pretend birthday cake has no calories and can be any flavor you want! Plus, if you eat my pretend birthday cake, you’ll get pretend super powers like super strength and laser eyes! So have fun!
As much as I had planned to write often for my blog, life reared it's ugly head and kept me from putting fingers to keyboard. Mandatory overtime at work, mixed with my persistent stomach issues and a crazily leaky roof all sucked away my time and my desire to even attempt writing.
Grand Theft Auto V's online component, Grand Theft Auto Online, won't be available when the game launches worldwide on September 17, developer Rockstar Games has announced.
Why? Because he's the best. Please go here and vote for Squirtle to win the character battle. Help him make a comback. Also, he's got the coolest shades!
So when I get caught up in a game there is no half steppin. The only reason I'm not playing FF14 right now is they are doing maintance. Its been kind of a weekly thing lately. And its probably a good thing, been having some minor issues with response times in really big chaotic battles. Plus this morning someone was spamming the hell out of the dialog box for some website selling gil and levels for REAL money. I hope this does not become commonplace.
I have been wanting to write this blog for a long time, ever since E3. But the problem was I did not have enough information on Pokemon X and Y's new Fairy type to actually say what kind of impact it would have on the metagame. Finally, however, we not only got a type chart for Fairy type Pokemon, but we got info on some new changes which are sure to be to accomodate for it.
For any of you creative types out there, be grateful you live in the 21st century. Thanks to the advent of the Internet and social media, artists of all stripes now have an unprecedented amount of opportunity to express themselves to the world. Money, connections, and even a higher education are no longer needed—the artist just needs to grab the instrument or device of his choice and create the masterpiece of his dreams. Follow that up with a quick upload to the appropriate site on the Web, and fame is just a click away.
I was on the gameinformer site today to look at the new gameinformer magazine when I noticed this article.
Let me tell you guys something about myself that I'm not sure I've been too vocal about here: Like some of you on here, I one day wish to work in the Gaming Industry as a Creative Director. That's my dream, one that I've been chasing for a while. I haven't always known the exact path to get there, but over the past few years of refining what I wanted to do in the games industry, I've found what suits me best.
I like to think that I do not really care about how things looks, but I may need to make an exception. Behold, the one reason why I may pick up a PS VIta far earlier than I was planning.
Wow! This documentary of the Street Fighter series is informative and fascinating. It was just released for the 25th Anniversary of the series, and covers a lot, including the origin, the music, Street Fighter II (the game which defined the fighting genre), the days of the arcade, the EVO tournaments, and even takes a look into the lives of Seth Killian and Justin Wong (SF pros). If you haven't seen this yet, it's a must watch! It's 72 minutes long, so find some time and check it out, it's worth it.
