Hey, guys! 2020 has been a miserable year for the world, so thank God it's over! But it was a really good year for games. This year I was able to beat 25 games, which is almost the most I've ever done in a year. Most of you know that I'm a huge Nintendo fan, so most of these are Nintendo games or games on Nintendo consoles (although I would like to get a PS4, but not sure if that'll happen). As always, I beat some really great retro games this year too. So without further ado, here are the games I beat in 2020.
Hello Internet friends. I’ve neglected you for the past couple of weeks and for that I am sorry. There has a been a lot going on here and at times it has been a bit overwhelming. Since it is the last day of 2020 I didn’t want to end the year without some sort of contact. When I have had some time to myself I did manage to play some games. Most are of the mobile variety because I didn’t want to actually fire up the laptop or a console. Hell up until the end of last week I haven’t touched a laptop in a couple of weeks and I haven’t started up a console in longer.
Haven't been into blogging at the moment. But here's a quick update on what I've been doing gamewise.
WORST. YEAR. EVER. I think we can all agree that 2020 has been one of the worst years in our lifetime, what with the Coronavirus, quarantines, riots and looting, politics, and much more. And it doesn’t seem to be getting any better, as I just found out my mom has breast cancer (keep us in your prayers). Some days I wonder if we’ll EVER get through this. 2020 can just suck it! But at least we’ve had some good video games come out to help keep our minds off of this dumpster fire of a year. So here’s my Best Games of 2020 Awards Show! But keep in mind that this is my list and my picks only, no outside opinions and whatnot. And if a game isn’t on my list, it either just didn’t appeal to me or I haven’t played it yet. Can’t play ‘em all, you know! But with that out of the way, let’s take a look at my picks.
Hello everyone! I was hoping to get a holiday-themed game blog up here today, but I'm just too busy. It will have to wait. But I wanted to wish all of you who celebrate a Merry Christmas, and I hope you all have a lovely holiday!
Not sure I would have rented this otherwise, but I do like surprise games I didn't really hear much about from GameFly.
Merry Christmas everybody! We’re going to continue my tradition of having a pretend Christmas present party on my blog. Here’s how it works. In the comments section, you give me a pretend Christmas present. It can be anything you want. It won’t cost anything, and it’s the thought that counts…literally! Then I’ll give you a pretend Christmas present when I reply. It’s fun when it it’s fun. And I’ve got some more Christmas presents for you all, too! More recent game reviews I’ve written over at GamerDad.com. Just what you’ve always wanted! Please click on the links and read as many as you can and maybe even post a ‘like’ or comment or two. I’d appreciate it.
Now that the PS5 and Xbox Series are out, I figure it's a good time to reflect on my favorite games their predecessors brought during the past 7 years. I figured since these consoles came out in 2013 and I was there for the PS4 day one, I would list the thirteen games that stuck with me most. Some of them I played on PC or Switch, but I'm including them anyways so long as they're offered on either or both of these platforms. I would include Switch and Wii U, but these days Nintendo consoles feel distinct while PS and XB feel like mostly the same console with a handful of exclusives separating them.
There's not much I can put in my scrapbook for this year. Most TV came out on services you had to get a subscription for; I didn't go to any theaters because of the pandemic; I got more obsessed with old music than new, and read a lot of stuff but didn't find any favorites. All I got is a lot of gaming and a sole favorite. Maybe in the future, I'll add stuff to this.
I was still working at the library and continuing to epic fail all other job prospects. I still watched/played/read some stuff though. Things weren't all bad.
I love video game collections and compilations and writing blogs about them. But you know who doesn’t do video game collections very much? Nintendo! So Super Mario 3-D All-Stars is a pretty big deal. Or is it? Well we’ll take a look at that as well as the games in this set. Plus a few bonuses. So as Mario would say, “Let’s-a go!”
You know what comfort food is, right? It's something that you love to eat that puts you in that perfect mood where "life is wonderful" in that moment. It could be ice cream, or pizza, or something that your mom makes that is your absolute favorite. Well, comfort food could describe other things too, like games. A comfort food game could be one that you are super nostalgic about, or simply that has all the right ingredients that makes you feel like you're playing something very familiar and fun. It's that new game that you took a chance on and said, "This game is perfect, I love this game!" Of course, comfort food games can be different for everyone, but here are some that I think make great comfort food games for many gamers right now. All of these games are available on current consoles. Christmastime is probably the BEST time to enjoy those comfort food games. (Quick note, I haven't actually played all of these games) PLEASE feel free to share what your comfort food game would be right now down in the comments!
Happy Thanksgiving, all! I hope your appetites for turkey, stuffing, football, and video games are sated today!
Or not. I don't believe there can be one best of anything, but when I start a game of Terraria, I want to play nothing but Terraria. It's like everything we imagined we wanted in a side scroller as kids.
Did a lot of school learning computers and office admin. I also worked at the library part-time. I enjoyed it all but not the uncertainty of the future part. It was a year of tension and inner questioning. But, I enjoyed some media somehow. Here are my favorites.
Good evening Pixlpeeps! I need to reply to everyone and I’m sorry, it’s a little hectic right now because it’s almost Turkey Day and we’re getting ready here, so the day has been nothing but running around picking up last minute items, and when I got home I took a nap. I need to clean the bathroom after this so I’m gonna try and make this short.
So I had a Quick Hits blog written last week, but I scrapped it (no idea why), and then on Monday I had a regular blog about what I played but again scrapped it (again no idea why), but now I am convinced that I need to at least write this one and make sure it is posted before Turkey Day (my Canadian Friends celebrate with us with some Turkey) just in case I don’t update you good people with my gaming plans for Thanksgiving. Let’s get started.
