It's not everyday that PixlBit has the opportunity to run a contest, but we were lucky enough to receive a copy of The Lord of the Rings: War in the North on the PlayStation 3 to give away. If you haven't been keeping up, Jesse Miller reviewed the game favorably, awarding it three and a half stars earlier last month. In order to win this solid and likely overlooked game, you don't have to do too much.

Join us as Jesse and I return welcoming back Esteban and JD to our dysfunctional family here on PixlTalk. We tackle a number of interesting topics including the aftermath of the holiday release season, the impending future of the Wii, and a number of noticeable changes here on PixlBit. Hope you all enjoy and make sure to contact us at PixlTalk@Pixlbit.com with questions, comments, or suggestions you have for future episodes.

GamePro is gone! The once-popular gaming magazine is dead, and to talk about it, Nick joins me on this BONUS-SIZE issue of PB & Jason! Two PixlBit staff for the price of one!

Many of you may still be filled with turkey and stuffing, and even though it’s a holiday weekend it’s still a Friday and you know what that means. That’s right; it’s time for another explosive installment of Missing in Action!

...And it isn't that I'm ranked #1 on the leaderboards for one of the stages.

My philosophy in recommending a gift isn't to pick the biggest and best single player game out there. I want to help you make memories with your family, to shape new conversations with your friends. In short, I want to point out the games I think can bring people together. As such, many of the games I recommend will have multiplayer components. I also want to note that while all my suggestions seem to be major titles, I'm going to leave some of the biggest games off this list, since recommendations for them can be found easily enough elsewhere.

Whether you want a game for father-and-son time, or a game for the inner-detective, this guide has you covered. Who knows, maybe you'll even see something to give yourself as a gift for a job well done this holiday season...

Are you tired of those gift guides that tell you to buy things for him or her? Who really wants to give someone monogrammed towels, anyway? How about a gift guide based on the emotions we all feel? The emotions native to every person out there. If you're looking for a buyer's guide you can really empathize with, look no further. Patrick's guide is here to lend a helping hand.

Seasons Greetings, players. It's that time of the year, when we all run out and get lost in the crowds of people to buy our friends and family that which they love, in celebration of the holiday season/to help the economy. If you don't know what to get your loved one and he or she loves video games, then you must not be paying attention. Nevertheless, we've got you covered. Here are some suggestions on what is worth karate chopping the jerk who cut you off in the parking lot for your personal lovable gamer.

I’ve gotten further than I ever had in Ratchet & Clank. I’m on Planet Oltanis and I made my way through the various light guards, sentry robots, and machine gun turrets. It hasn’t been easy, with Clank not available for this level. I lack a lot of the various platforming upgrades I’ve acquired through my playthrough. However, I’m here, and the shiny bright aura surrounding my prize is in my sights. All that remains are some floating platforms with slingshot orbs above them. I grapple onto the first one. No problem. The next one is easy to reach as well after waiting for it to be in line. I grapple onto the third and final orb. It pulls me in. I drop down. I land on the floating platform. Something’s wrong. I’m stuck in the falling animation.

Episode 42 welcomes rookie PixlTalkers Jesse Miller and Mike Wall to the group as they join Jason Ross and Joaquim Mira. This week's episode has three main topics, the first involving the holiday onslaught of game after game after game. In particular, the group really feels like Ubisoft just didn't time their release dates well. Afterward, conversation moves to Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer, as well as the game's rivalry with Battlefield 3. The podcast concludes with some discussion of Skyrim, its dragons, and its glitches. This week's PB & Jason revolves mainly around Mario! That's right, I've gotten my hands on Super Mario 3D Land now that it has released stateside, and I've been playing it like crazy. What do I think? The title of this issue is a hint, but you'll be able to find all the details inside the podcast! Don't worry, though, issue 65 has more than just Mario inside. Click through to find the podcast and see the other topics of discussion!

Back in late 2001, Microsoft first entered the realm of console gaming with the Xbox. Although its sales numbers are nothing impressive when compared to that of the PlayStation 2, it did manage to outsell longtime videogame company Nintendo's GameCube, which is still a fine showing for a first console outing. Despite being a massive financial loss for the company, it laid the groundwork for much of what is now standard in the gaming industry.

Join Jason Ross as he plays through the latter half of Super Mario 64 to defeat Bowser tonight! Call-ins will be accepted to the PixlBit skype account, PixlSkype. Catch you tonight!

It’s been a long week, but it has finally come to an end and you know what that means. That’s right -- it’s time for another explosive installment of Missing in Action!

After 25 years and 13 games, Zelda is certainly no spring chicken. We've heard more about Link, the Triforce, Ganon, and a plot hole-ridden timeline than you can shake a Deku stick at. It looks like Skyward Sword will shake things up, but for me it's not enough. The world of Hyrule needs a new hero to rise. That hero is the cucco.

Different things usually happened with Nintendo in two completely different continents. While the NES arrived in 1986 in North America, Japan was already in its third year of Famicom glory. Nintendo’s then-released Famicom Disk System introduced the battery back-up save feature, eliminating the need for long over-drawn password saves. Games like Metroid and The Legend of Zelda greatly benefited from this innovation. It was also this year that Nintendo saw fit to release a sequel to Super Mario Bros, appropriately titled Super Mario Bros. 2. This was a completely different Super Mario Bros. 2 than the one North Americans got in 1988. So what in the world happened?

NeXtBoxes, Holiday Games, and Battlefield vs. Call of Duty. This week's PB & Jason has it all, so click through for the podcast and the details.

HD collections seem to be all the rage these days. The craze began with Sony’s release of the God of War collection – collecting the first two games in the series – on the PS3. This was promptly followed up by the HD Sly Cooper Collection, also on the PS3.

Skyrim is shaping up to be one of the bigger blockbuster titles this holiday season. For many it will be the first time they’ve delved into a series so rich with history. Jumping in at this point can be a daunting task, but you don’t have to march into the breach without being prepared, as we’ve created the PixlBit Skyrim Primer – a beginner’s guide of sorts that should help to inform the neophyte Elder Scrolls player on what to expect.

This week's PB & Jason is almost all about reviews! Expect to hear an expansion of my Dungeon Defenders review. Also, keep an ear open for a pre-review on Sonic Generations. Want more? How about a rantsplanation about why reviews are important and for whom I believe reviews are created?
