Trilogies and more Pickups

Hey Pixlbit. Hope everyone has had a good week so far.

I decided to go back to the Mass Effect series after a year. My first Mass Effect game was part 2 and I didn't even get to the half way point. Then I played a good amount of hours in part 3. I never played the first one and I decided to start playing it. I've had all three games for the longest time (Billy Joel's "For the Longest Time" started to play in my head) and I never completed them. So I'm starting to play the first one and work my way up. Another trilogy I'm playing is the Sly Cooper Collection on my Vita. As said on my last post, I picked up the game and have been playing it every once in a while.

So as the title shows, I got more pick ups since the last time I posted on here. If you all know, Target is having a sale on some titles like Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, Killzone Trilogy, Lego Star Wars The Complete Saga, Lego Star Wars 3 The Clone Wars, Infamous Collection, Left 4 Dead 2, Final Fantasy XIII-2 and others for $14. Of course, I couldn't pass up those deals. To start off with my pickups, I purchased Lego Star Wars The Complete Saga. I've had this game before but traded it during a crazy trade promotion at GameStop. I have a trading problem! Anyways, I've been wanting to get it back, but not at the $20 price it was. Luckily it was part of that sale.

My second pick up was Lego Star Wars 3 The Clone Wars. I bought this because I wanted to complete the Lego Star Wars games, but little did I know that I actually had a copy of the game already. It was just in the back of my shelf where I keep my games. So I ended up returning it and exchanging it for FFXIII-2. I was hesitant on opening it because I didn't know if I really wanted to play a FF game right now. I still have FFX-2 to play on my Vita. So I tried out the demo and didn't really get hooked onto it. I bought the game on the PS3 on launch because I was going through a FF phase where I just had to get the games. I remember buying the collector's for XIII-2 and I still have it, but ended up trading the game because I put the game down for quite a while. At the time I also bought XIII, V, VI and VII. Some were digital, some were physical.

So I went back and exchanged that for Ni No Kuni. Now, a lot of people really loved this game. I've played it before from a friend who let me borrow his copy, but I wasn't able to finish it because he wanted to trade it in. So I left at a certain area and never bought myself a copy. For those who don't know, the PSN is having a huge RPG sale going on till Friday. I would recommend checking it out. The sale contains games like the Mass Effect Trilogy, Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen, Kingdoms of Amalur, Ni No Kuni, Tales of Graces f and others. Ni No Kuni is $5 on the PSN and I was really thinking about getting a $20 PSN card for that and Tales of Graces, but I looked at the game file size and it's 22 gbs! I have the space, but that's a pretty big file. Usually I would bite on this deal, but that space is just too much for me. So I just went and bought myself the physical copy for $14. For some reason I have this thing with physical copies. Probably some of you do too.

Lastly, I went back to ToysRUs towards the clearance section to find any missing gems I may have passed from last week and I found Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask. Lately I've been getting into puzzle games like Lumines Electronic Symphony, Montezuma Blitz, Tetris etc. So I figured I would give it a shot. Luckily I found it for $12. From reviews and threads I've read about the game, it sounds/looks like a good game, but I'm still looking into it. If any of you have played the game or any others of the series please let me know your input on it and if it's worth playing. I would appreciate it.

Forgot about one quick pickup. I was at one of my local GameStops and decided to use a $5 off a pre owned game coupons and decided to pick up Phantasy Star Universe. Didn't know anything about the game and I've been playing a little bit of it. It hasn't gotten me interested yet, but I think I might enjoy it and for it being free from the coupon, I think I'll start to like it when the story starts to pick up.

Anyways that's all for now readers. Hope everyone has a great week.

BEYOND!

Thanks. I'm sure you can find better things around your area because there's hardly any rare games at the stores near me.

i really wanted to love Ni No Kuni, and there's a lot of things about it I do love, but I just don't like the combat, and that's killer for me.  IT's such a wonderful game, but I wish it had traditional turn based combat like DQ or something.

Youre not alone in hating the combat system in Ni No Kuni.  Even now for $5 on the PSN, im not much tempted to re acquire it

It really is a great game, but I agree with you on the combat. I remember wanting this game because of the studio who made it because Studio Ghibli made my favorite anime movie Princess Mononoke. I also found it interesting that the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra created the soundtrack for the game. The story is good, graphics are amazing, enjoyable characters, no problem with the dialogue, but the combat system could've been better. Don't get me wrong, I like the combat but I feel like there's something missing. That there was just one more aspect they needed to make it feel like you're in the battle rather than running around attacking for a few seconds and running around again.

Yeah I checked it out when they put it up on the PSN. But there's just something with me wanting physical copies of games. The only digital games I own are the PS+ games that they've offered.
