In which I return (again) to post about not posting enough (again)...

Nice to hear from you, Step. Hope you've been well.

TG Mav was so impressive but also as a legacy sequel. It didn't cling to nostalgia as a sign of laziness. It has the baggage but is not a slave to it. It's very much its own thing.

Nice. My 2DS was the green/brown variant that had Ocarina of Time Remastered pre-installed.

I wonder if the dual screen setup (among other factors) will hold back bringing ports to current/future consoles.

Good to hear from you as well!

On some level I feel kinda dumb to have spent that much money but at least I'll have access to them.

And a 3DS XL sounds wonderful. I'm playing all this stuff on a 2DS (cheese-wedge/door stop design) I got for $30. But I get it.

Nice! I'll have to check out your podcast. Here's mine:

The Past and the Pending

Late to the Party: Horizon Zero Dawn

I finished this game less than a month before Forbidden West's release. I found it very satisfying and while there are some rough edges (given its the first attempt by Guerilla to make a 3rd person action game) enough of it works beautifully. I'm currently 25 hours into Forbidden West; if you end up enjoying the rest of Zero Dawn, you'll want to play this as well.

4 Years Later: Captain N's thoughts on: Nintendo Switch

My Switch Lite is my favorite handheld system. The past year was my first with the system and it's been a delight catching up with all the games. It's a godsend for retro titles as well. I noticed that you didn't mention the Switch port of Hades which was fantastic.

As you stated in the article, I'm not worried that the new Switch model will leave everyone who owns older models in the dust. The install base is too big to ignore. As a Switch Lite owner, I already have to deal with losing access to certain titles because I'm always in handheld mode; I'm not broken up about it. With the library it has right now, it's a solid system already. I don't see myself upgrading when the new model gets released.

I understand the complaints on the SMB 3D All Stars Collection but as someone who hasn't played those games in a long time (or in the case of Sunshine, not at all), it's a solid collection and it runs great for me. Playing Galaxy in handheld mode is what I've always wanted. Could Nintendo have done more? Yes, but we can't control that. I also suspect the titles will be sold individually somewhere down the line.

The first time I bought one, it had been about a year after release.

A couple of years ago, I was on hard times financially and I had to sell mine just to have money to survive on until the first paycheck from my current job arrived. I don't know why it took me so long to get another one. It's possible that when I got an Xbox One I got sucked into its ecosystem (for lack of better term) to catch up on it. Both are wonderful consoles.

We're friends already.

I still have my PS3 Slim. Never giving that up.

We're friends already. You and I played some Destiny years ago.

I predict that you'll be borrowing it multiple times. It's a LOT of game.
