PB & Jason Issue 117: Dead Space City 13

EA has made quite a few headlines this past week, but none of them are all that positive.

That's right, EA gets a lot of attention in this week's PB & Jason. Why? Well, for starters, SimCity has always-on DRM that's preventing a lot of people from playing the game. Beyond that, rumors of an unsuccessful Dead Space 3 & the cancellation of a Dead Space 4 has drawn ire, whether these rumors are true or not! On top of all this, we've got a couple user blogs focused, some discussion on in-game promotions of some video game media outlets, a special mention of Epic Mickey for some of my favorite listeners, Japanese eShop rules, and a lot of talk about the upcoming Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate community event. PB & Jason is recorded in front of a live studio audience every Wednesday, weather permitting. Click through for listening and download links!

Eidos New Entry in the Thief Franchise is a Reboot?

Well done. I did not see you approach.

It looks like Thief 4 won't be a sequel at all, rather a reboot of the Thief franchise.

Nerds Without Pants Episode 17: The All-Japan Pro Podcast

Sayonara, Rob-san!

Welcome to another edition of Nerds Without Pants! No, this show isn't about an epic wrestling match between Antonio Inoki and Great Baba. This time, we revisit a topic that we talked about when we were still the Tri-Force crew on PixlTalk: Japanese games. Instead of rehashing material we take advantage of the fact that we’re nearing the end of the console cycle and grade major Japanese developers on their performance. Before that, we talk about what games we’ve been playing.

2K Sports Gets Into the Rasslin' Business

WWE '14 hits shelves this fall.

We followed the slow and tragic decline of THQ here at PixlBit over the past year, and a few of us talk about it at length in the current Darksiders episodes of Backloggers Anonymous. As you no doubt know, the core THQ properties were auctioned off recently, but two franchises were noticeably absent from the big sell-off. Those would be the aforementioned Darksiders and the WWE license, which THQ had held the rights to since the release of WWF Smackdown for the PlayStation in 2000. We now know the fate of the WWE video game license, and it has fallen into the hands of 2K Sports. So what does that mean for the gamer itching to simulate Cena vs. Punk in a TLC match?

PB & Jason Issue 116: Phoning It In

Now that PixlBit's on the map, I can finally just coast through all my podcasts.

Hello and welcome to PB & Jason! If you're a first-time listener, you'll be in for a treat. In the first part of the issue, I talk a bit about myself and my history with video games. For the second half, I literally just rely a bit too heavily on blogs. Why would I come up with compelling content if I can just take others', after all? PB & Jason is recorded in front of a live studio audience every Wednesday, weather permitting. God of War: Ascension Hands On Preview

Will Kratos' latest tale grow stale?

Upon learning about the direction of God of War: Ascension, I was hesitant to fully back this game. Instead of re-inventing the series, or continuing from the somewhat ambiguous ending of the third installment, Ascension was to be yet another prequel that would tell I was already familiar with. While the plot of the game still screams “useless filler” to me, my time with the game reminded me why God of War was so good to begin with. The absurdly high production values, a simple and stylish combat system, and larger than life set pieces in this thirty minute demo roused my interest in the series once again.
