Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue Review Rewind

The secondary series tries to expand to reach a wider audience.

Jak and Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper. These are probably the platformers you think of when talking about the PS2. In an era that saw the genre lose its footing to first person shooters like Halo and Killzone, Sony’s second console still had a stable of successful platformers. However, some were cast aside, left to wallow in the abyss of subpar imitators. Ty the Tasmanian Tiger is one of those copycats. This hurt an important core element of the game leaving it unbalanced, unfocused, and devoid of an element of character it once had before.

The first game, South Park: Let’s Go Tower Defense Play! had a decent showing among reviewers, with a Metacritic of 72. While that game featured Stan, Kenny, Cartman, and Kyle in a tower defense setting, the new game is something much, much different.
