Final Fantasy Tactics is one of the best RPG's, and even one of the best video games of all time. This is not in dispute. Released for the Playstation, it has since been a PSONE Classic, gotten a PSP upgrade, and re-released with high res graphics on iOS and Android.
I never played it when it was on PSONE, and only got to it when it was a PSONE classic. I then played it on the PSP, and finally really delved into it on my iPad. I have never won it, but have started and played about halfway through at least a dozen times.
I've been thinking of picking it up again sometime soon. I love Tactics games.
The funny thing is, as great a classic as this game is, it has never received a proper sequel. There were the Tactics Advance games for the GBA and DS, but they weren't quite the same. At this point, I'm not sure if a sequel will ever happen.
However, to this day, FFT is the game that keeps on giving with its deep gameplay and great story.
I enjoyed the heck out of FF Tactics Advance.
I played FFTA2 and loved it too. But I just don’t think those games reach the majesty that this one does.
I bought a couple of Final Fantasy games on the PSP thinking they would go up in price but I never got around to buying this game. Good to see that it has appeared on multiple platforms.
Yeah, if they haven’t made a sequel at least they have re-released it and updated the graphics, etc.
I want to believe you, but the word Tactics is such a huge turn off for me.
Ha ha. I understand!
I have a couple of copies of War of the Lions. Never finished it though
Yeah, I agree. Possibly the best console tactical game imo. I only rate the original X-Com and Jagged Alliance 2 on PC above it, in the genre. I still have my one and only run of the game, unfinished, on a memory card. I hope to get back to it in the near future. The Advance games were fun but didn't compare to the somber tone and dramatic music of the original. Playstation had a hell of a library.
Holy crap! I didn’t know FF Tactica was on iOS! I never got into the game because of how time consuming it is to play out each battle in front of a TV. But on my iPad could be perfect for taking it small chunks. Thanks for the idea!
I played this game in college on the PSOne. I learned something from playing this game. I learned I don't like tactical RPGs. :)
I tried it once and got overwelmed by all the job choices. I've always wanted to go try it again.
FFT was the game that got me into tactical games. I did play Desert Commander on NES (which looked very much like Advance Wars) and a huge tactical game about the Napoleonic Wars, but FFT was a gateway drug to games like Disgaea, Sakura Wars, and Valkyria Chronicles. I did a BaD on FFTA a couple years ago.
Yeah it got me into them too. Just bought a Disgaea 5 for Switch.
I've played the PSP remake and the PSOne original. Both have steep learning curves for players that aren't used to SRPGs, like myself. But they're so well made.
