Zelda: A Link to the Comics

Back in the day—the early '90s—Nintendo Power ran some comics for Super Mario World and A Link to the Past. As far as I know the Mario comic is still lost to time but the Zelda one got a nice trade paperback release last year and I recently finished reading it. Man, did that take me back! The storyline is a very loose adaptation of the SNES game, which most of the time is for the best, I think. The art is very expressive, though surprisingly not very "anime," if you know what I mean, and is laid out left-to-right since it was intended for a Western magazine. It holds up quite well! It's just a fun, breezy adventure. What surprised me most was how humorous it was and the humor was very anime, er, manga I should say, since the author was a famous old manga artist (Sotaro Ishinomori) at the end of his career.

Broke out my PS2 today and played a little All Star Slammin' D-Ball. This is a PS1 game. It's like volleyball but with no net. Two teams wing a ball at each other until one side eliminates all the players on the other side. There's four players a side in the in-bounds area and then three more players just out of bounds. That's a little more interesting than the way I played it at summer camp one year where the two sides just stood in a line across from one another and threw the ball at each other way too hard. Here's some gameplay footage:

All right folks, it’s Spring Training Time, and I’ve got a regimen of reviews for you to read that’ll get you into shape!  If you read these reviews I’ve recently written and maybe even post a comment or two here or there, I guarantee that you’ll be super-buff in no time and be able to pick up a whole car with just one hand (well it might be a Hot Wheels car).  So let’s get started, and thanks for reading my reviews!

I am pulling for The Division to get GoTY. I also hope Uncharted 4 is in the running. My friend and I were in the Dark Zone the other night and we saw enimies just appear out of thin air, lol. He said "you see that shit"?, lol. This game is one of the best games I have played in a while. If you have played it let me know what you think.

Good morning and Happy Good Friday Pixlpeeps! The weekend is almost here, and I am ready to sleep in on Saturday and maybe finish House of Cards. So how are you good people? Sunny Southern California has been breezy the past couple of days so I had to take my morning walks indoors to the local neighborhood gym where it seems in the same amount of time I walk around, I double the distance on a treadmill (that’s what the app on my phone tells me). Anyways shall we get started with another Quick Hits with Chris?

It’s late at night (got work in the morning at the time of writing this) and nothing else eventful has happened (well Mom had to leave town for something but that’s a different story for another time perhaps). So I’m going to quickly write about what I plan to do this coming weekend, outside of work, my moonlight job (two mobile game reviews in one night submitted), Pokemon (aiming for a complete Gen VI National Pokedex before Sun & Moon), work on ability mutations on Final Fantasy Explorers (stacks of 1 for a mutation is enough, right?), repurposing my laptop as an office/media machine… wow, um, am I ever going to play this space chicken guy?

..Yeh so..Once again didn't have much time to really get to as much as I'd like to have..Plus was clening up after my older brother's lazy move..(A hilarious amount of dust in his room for some reason)..And whatever else he's planned for/is planning from now on..Also finally got to really clean the stove without a certain someone always making a surprising mess of things..Other than that..Sorted things in my room..Let's just say for now it was a tad cluttered, more than I would have liked to really try and work a bit more seriously with my doodles..(Been a bit disorienting too with seeing and moving around old stuff..Found a pile of really old unfinished things..Keeping current doodles somewhat orginized.)And my tablet as I want to finally start finishing stuff I start with it...Well there is also a birthday coming up we're celebrating during Easter..I should see about a doodle for..Oh and inbetween I had a few seperate nights filled with a bit of insomnia so that was fun..

In looking at Gamestop online for a the Chewbacca figure for Disney Infinity 3.0, I noticed it seemed a little bit scarce, so I dashed out and got one under the $10 sale. I had to go to two stores, because online lies sometimes, but I had some time. While at one of the stores, I noticed they had one of the few core Skylanders I didn't have, Flip Wreck, so I picked that up as well. Here's the pic:

We had an Apple/Macintosh growing up. Some of my first memories of gaming were on an Apple II... My point is that I did not grow up with DOOM or Duke Nukem or Quake. Marathon was the FPS that I knew and enjoyed. I also played a lot of Descent, but that is a different kind of FPS.

The Division from a console perspective (First blog since 1up was abandoned)

So I've been on The Divison now since it's come out, playing it pretty religiously so I could do a review of it when I have a little more time to put into it.  I will say this much, playing solo isn't for everyone, nor is it the best way to play the game.  I started out solo and got to level 5 before it became insane to play any missions above level 5.  After the first level 5 mission I beat, I started to get only level 7 missions to complete, by that time I knew it was time to play with a group.  I opened the room up to public, as I don't really keep friends on psn or xbox live.  I noticed most people I came across on both systems don't use headsets or do they really help the team out.  Maybe thats because I haven't came across a team that will work together. The first team I assembled all went rouge on each other, which defeated the whole purpose of playing the harder level, cause even on their own, they couldn't beat it.  The first team was assembled on PS4.  The second team I assembled which I started at level 1 was on xbox one.  I noticed I had two players with headsets and myself made 3, we were able to complete the story mission more efficently. As far as framerate goes on both systems I noticed lag in each, I mean come on it's not a high end computer and I'm sure the servers are bogged down.  But the lag hasen't been that bad, or at least not for me.  I have come across a few bugs and glitches, but was informed that the patch that just released was to address them.
