Today I brought my copy of Namco Museum Virtual Arcade to my friend's place so I could play some 1984 arcade classics. Then it was back to Minecraft. The day looked kinda similar to yesterday really.
Good Morning and Happy June Pixlbit Nation! I hope you good people had a good weekend, spending time with those games you’ve been dying to play during the week, and maybe exploring some new stuff. Since it is the beginning of the month (today my Lego Imperial Shuttle will finally be available in stores so hopefully Target has it so I can price match at Toys R Us, and get the points)
Guten Tag Pixlbitallion and welcome to some miscellaneous ramblings.
As of last Friday, I worked my last late night shift until mid/late August. I'm hoping my sleep patterns adjust until then. While I like the solitude of working alone and got used to working into the wee hours, a change of pace is needed, especially after the workload I've been dealing with.
Despite what your opinions are of the seventh console generation as a whole, I think we can agree that it was a pretty weak time for boss fights. The games released seemed to not be suited as well to boss fights as the past ones, which resulted in either bossless games (Call of Duty) or incredibly lame ones (take your pick from the Uncharted trilogy). However, that's not to say the generation did not have its share of epic fights. So here's my pick of the best of the gen.
In keeping with the 1984 theme today, I watched Ice Pirates staring Robert Urich. Angelica Huston was also in it, as was John Carradine and Ron Perlman. This is not a good movie. It's supposed to be funny too, and it just wasn't. You may be thinking, "well, at least it has some good scifi space visuals and such." but don't bother because it's like they found a closet on the Hollywood lot with all this extra stuff from every type of movie and cobbled it all together. It's lazy in every way from visuals to script. In every scene, I predicted what would be said or happen and had a better outcome in my mind. To top it all off, the ending had no impact at all and felt like nothing really happened in the movie. Bah!
Where does the time go?! There really aren't enough hours in the day for work and all my hobbies and interests. And there'll be less time this week than most. I'm headed to Kentucky early Friday morning for my nephew's graduation. We'll be coming back the next day, so quick trip, but it will be so worth it. Many of you former 1uppers have been reading about Bean's and my adventures for years, and now he's all grown up. Thursday I head to my sister's in NH, where I'll spend the night before heading to the airport in Boston in the early AM. On the way, I'm stopping at a friend's house to do some odd jobs for her that she isn't physically able to do (climb ladders and change lightbulbs, mostly) and also some mechanical stuff.
So they had the most kickass direct ever. They have a new Monster Hunter X/Cross along with a Dragon Quest that was remade for 3DS. There is also a title that I might be the only one interested called Monster Hunter Diary: Poka Poka Airou Village DX. It looks adorable! I have a love for Palicos in Monster hunter. There kitties which if you know anything about me, I love dearly. I have my 2 kittkidos that mean the world to me. Anywho, the trailers are all on YouTube. I wish I could tag them but I'm on my tablet and every time I try video posting it gives me nothing but headaches.
Well my job situation is exactly what I feared. I haven't been called with work in 2 weeks. However I have had one possible job pop up. If everything went good on Friday I should receive a call monday. I'm hoping beyond anything I get a call. I've been putting in more apps but nothing has come of them. I appreciate the comments on my last blog greatly. I'm sorry I haven't replied yet, I've been trying to stay busy and keep my mind from wandering to worry. I actually haven't been on since my last post except once to see what everyone was doing. Glad to see life returning some to here. Well other then job searching I've been reading like crazy and playing video games on and off.
Well, sort of depending who you ask. I got a Wii U today. It is the only current machine that has games that have caught my interest at this time. My backlog on the old consoles is sooooo insane that I can't justify jumping into anything new, yet Nintendo kept giving me the itch I just had to scratch. What a satisfying scratch it is.
So there's this rumor going around (I read it on IGN) that Microsoft is in talks with Konami about purchasing the aborted game Silent Hills to release it exclusively on Xbox One. At first glance, this seems plausible, because it would make sense for a hardware company to at least inquire about securing this game as a console exclusive, considering the interest this game has garnered.
I went a little nuts this week with music. I'll have to reign it in a little bit somehow in the future, but for now I'm happy with it. And I finally got a current gen capable TV. 32 inch, 1080p with HDMI ports. I'm ready for any of the new systems I want to get. I got it for $200 at Best Buy. At that price, I couldn't say no. I went there initially because my 3DS told me a special Mii was going to be there this weekend. I'll take a look at that later tonight. So here are pics of all the stuff.
Well good morning Pixlbit Nation! Since it is Friday, I got a late start to the morning, and decided to get up at 8am instead of the usual 6ish-7am times. So how are you good people this morning? Anything fun planned for the weekend? The temperature has jumped back up to more normal readings and today we can expect triple digits which usually sucks but at least the humidity hasn’t kicked in yet so its manageable. Anyways let’s get started with Quick Hits because I want to run some errands and maybe check out a sculpture garden.
It's true. I am now a member of the glorious pixlbit master race, a part of the elite secret society that rule over the rest of you peasants. For those of you who don't know what a peasant is, they used to be the poor and downtrodden members of society who were ruled over by a dominant power. Or, for a more modern definition of the word: a Russian.
Yea, I messed up my math on my last blog. I should be reliving 1985 this week according to my system, and not 1984. Oh well, I'm stopping now. Next week, I'll get back on track with 1986.
It's a little game I've been playing with music. Each week of the year is another year in the history of music. The last week of the year represents the current year. So count backwards to this week, the 22nd week of 2015, and you get 1984.
Let me know via PM. I picked up one and have no use for it.
New comic bundle with Alan Moore and Joe Hill. I don't have 18 bucks to spend or I would. Maybe I'll just drop a couple of bucks on it though. Maybe.
Hey Pixlbitallion, how would you love a live action film based on Mario Kart?
