I'm not convinced that the internet infrastructure in North America is strong or wide enough to support the online requirements of Xbox One (by association, I'm hoping Sony isn't dependent on that, either). I'm convinced, however, just by the presentation of yesterday that Microsoft is no longer interested in marketing to me. As much as some/most of us had the idea of an "all-in-one" box, this appeared to be their plan all along and so much is riding on this; if it sinks, they're fucked in the console business. Microsoft isn't under any obligation to sell something that's accessible or affordable but it isn't a smart business decision and the sense of hubris on their part is still noticeable.

Yesterday was the big reveal of the new Xbox. I was on the edge of my seat with anticipation, super excited, watching for all the rumors to be answered. Instead I get to view this square cable slapped box filled with disappointment.

I'm back...wait, huh? Post-op catch-up and other stuff.

Hey everyone!  As I said a few weeks ago, I was having surgery done on my arm to correct some unfortunate nerve damage, and wasn't expecting to be around here much at all.  Well, I had it done, but it wasn't quite what anyone had expected.

you'll have to drag this old man kicking and screaming into the next gen.

Well, Microsoft went and revealed a system I was already only lukewarmly (thats a word, right?) interested in weeks ago and turned it into a console that I'm not interested in whatsoever.  The always online and always on Kinect 2 kills a LOT for me and my wife.

Due to a severe storm in our area, plus lightning/thunder, our Time Warner Cable did what it does best and went out. I saw the truck in our alleyway just after getting back from my walk, and the cable and internet came back on.

So now that the Xbox is announced even though it was quite crumy and made the day kind of sour for some of us, lets try to talk about something exciting and positive! I know we all got E3 expectations, there are certain gams we wanna see more of or atleast announced. The next few days will be littered with videos from random game journalism sites, developers, and just plan bloggers that will continue to hype us. Not to mention, the PS4 console body will be shown June 10th!

Why Nintendo should buy SEGA

A while back Nintendo aired one of their Nintendo Directs and while they showed some cool stuff, they showed something that I didn't see coming but already expected to happen at some point: Nintendo and SEGA have a 1 year partnership for the Sonic franchise. What does this mean? It means that any and all Sonic games released this year will be exclusive to Nintendo platforms only. They showed a new Mario and Sonic title called Mario and Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics (which yes, is a mouthful but it's in Russia which I don't care for the long title), Sonic: Lost World which better live up to it's name and have dinosaurs, and an unnannounced project.

First of all, sorry I didn't comment back to you all who posted on my last blog. I appreciate the comments. Now to simply to get onto Xbox One. I am happy to finally see it and know what to expect. I am not as impressed as I expected but was excited throughout the reveal. I am though stunned about having to have the system a 24 hour period, the need of Kinect to always be connected, and a fee for used games. It seems like there was a lot of bad which was really and obviously left out of the unveil.

Ray Manzarek co-founder and Keyboardist of The Doors passed away monday, he was 74. His unique style allowed them to forego a bass player and added boogy woogy, jazz , and blues influences to their sound. He later went on to produce the progressive punk band X and wrote several  books about his expiriences with the Doors.

(Note that the following blog will probably be a bit more rambly/ranty and less well thought-out than my NES reviews tend to be, so bear with me as I vomit my immediate thoughts onto the internet with limited editing. Also, I might be wrong on some of the facts I'm citing, so feel free to (constructively) point out any outright misinformation contained herein.)

So, it's finally happened. The last of the next-gen consoles to be revealed, the Xbox One got it's official announcement this morning (or afternoon in New York anyway). A few things that popped out at me:

So recently I had my birthday. I've learned to be less and less excited at each birthday or otherwise event that is a major holiday...even Christmas isn't the same. I think I'm just too mentally out of all the hubbub of the various events. Anyways I figured I'd make the statement to say I finally decided to purchase a Wii U...I won't do it right away though. I'm actually going to wait until E3 with Nintendo's Official yet unofficial E3 announcements. I'll see what games to buy and go from there. I have four in mind (ZombiU, New Super Mario Bros. U, Scribblenauts U, Lego City U, U can't have too many puns!)
