This new update added several things to The Nether World: new biomes, matterials and mobs. There are also four new achievements, so Mark and I started up a new world to get them all.
Got some more game reviews dancing your way that I recently wrote at GamerDad.com! Please click on and read as many of the links as you can, and maybe even post a ‘like’ or comment or two. I’d appreciate it. And as Shantae would say, “Ret-2 Go!”
Yes, I'm alive. Busy and burned out at work and it's not even June. More about that at the end. I've been gaming more these days, so I actually have something to blog about for a change. And yes, true to form, they are all "late to the party" games that I'm sure everyone else played ages ago.
I have Days Gone out from GameFly and I am not very far into it at all, but it just isn't grabbing me. I keep being told to play through cause the story gets better but I'm only going to give it so much rope before deciding against it. So far it really does feel similar gameplay and story-wise to The Last of Us Remastered, which was the first game I ever played on my PS4.
Not feeling all that great about today's gaming. I'm feeling rather wanting to do something else next weekend like ride a bike or hike really really far. But, here's what was on today's menu.
I was very frustrated after this day of gaming and even turned off my recurring payments to my Xbox account, thinking I was going to turn casual and forget about gaming for the most part. Well, I'm back in the groove and heading out for another game day very soon. Here's what went down yesterday.
Oh boy, 1994. I believe i was struggling to find a job I liked that year. I distinctly remember sitting in a diner with my girlfriend using the last shred of money on my credit card and wondering what to do next. I had been trying to be a videographer but only did one gig before I was at a loss how to proceed. I tried to get a band together from the talent at my mental health support group, but it wasn't going well. Many of my friends there were much worse than me and had some difficulty keeping focus. I separated myself from all that and then had a few jobs that didn't last very long, but were interesting. It was a uncertain, bumpy ride that year, but there was good media to absorb at least.
Oh, '93. What was I doing then? I believe I was finishing college after dropping out in '90 (I'll always claim I'm class of '90). I was in a school musical that year called A Dream on Royal Street. It was a mash up of Madi Gra and Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. I played Francis Flute and had to appear in drag to outrageous laughter. Then I had to sing a song. Ah, days when I was fearless on stage. I was also an understudy to a minor character in Shakespeare's Hamlet that summer. I took a ceramics class and was encouraged to continue. I didn't. I also won an award for a short story I wrote in creative writing class. I was encouraged to publish. I didn't. It seems I ignored all good advice that year. Story of my life. Here's some media I absorbed in '93.
The last classic collection I got on sale recently was the Contra Collection. I’m not a big fan of Contra either, but I do like it a lot better than Castlevania. I was never very good at Contra, though. I do remember it being very popular when I was a kid in the 8- and 16-bit days. Most people I know either had it on the NES, or rented it a lot. It may not be the first run and gun game, but it is one of the first that perfected and popularized the genre. I even remember one time reading a newspaper comic strip back then where two kids were running home to play NES games, and one of the kids said “Let’s play Contra!” So anyway, let’s take a look at the Contra Collection!
I'd like to see Marvin the Martian be the leading character in a game. You could pour out different aliens to fight for you as you attempt to take over earth. It'd be like Overlord meets Destroy All Humans.
Just wondering what some of your favorite gaming podcasts are, aside from the glorious pixlbit NWP of course.
Oh baby, yeah, library additions. How much more navel gazing can I do? Well, a lot apparently, and you all have to put up with it, or not. Believe me, I will go if asked.
I imagine a daffy takedown to be like Ren & Stimpy executing the flying butt pliers in the wrestling match episode.
I'm revisiting 1990-94 this month. I spent a lot of time researching media for each year and trying to remember what I saw, heard, played. I came up with one item from each genre that I would save from a fire, or some like thing. Here's what I'm adding to my permanent virtual (hopefully matterial someday) library for 1991.
The ducks have invaded Disneyland, and it's your job to get them back to their ponds and clean up the park. WIth your duck catcher net and a broom, it's time to do your Disney duty. "Custodian crusade!"
I'd like to build my own library of media favorites, so I'm starting this month. It begins with what I'm already looking back on, the early '90s. So here's what I got for 1990 in TV, film, games, music and books.
Well, it was a fun thing to watch, and I was impressed by the amount of new IPs. Demon's Souls caught me by surprise too. And there looked liked some great games. When will they be released? Who knows!
