A couple of weeks ago, I was lucky enough to score the Seasons of Warfare Edition of Fire Emblem: Three Houses at Best Buy in Scottsdale. It was sold out everywhere else in town, and was only available online through scalpers selling it for $150-200 and up, so as soon as I found it at Best Buy I was on the 101 to snatch it up.
I discovered what I did wrong in Wolfrenstein Younblood, but I had put the game away already. So I jumped into We Happy Few on Game Pass. Then I got annoyed and switched to Apex Legends but got kicked out for network problems. Finally i tried Battle Chasers: Nightwar and got hooked.
Both Mark and I were playing the game solo today. We were pleased for a while but ultimately got very frustrated and stopped playing. Following are some reasons.
So I’m trying to get back on track and finish 2019 strong by keeping up with my blog posts. I finished breakfast, have a couple of minutes to jot down my ramblings and see what I can remember playing over the past week or so. Sound fun? Let’s go!
I was playing Monopoly Plus on Xbox a few weeks ago and something struck me as I watched the backgrounds of the 3D enhanced board you can play. There is a really cool model city with moving trains, cars, a waterfront on one side with boats, an amusement park and skyscrapers in the middle. I thought, this would be a great model railroad setup to make in real life. Take a look at about the 1 minute mark. .
On Switch. However it is not listed under Coming Soon yet which means absolutely nothing.
I forgot to mention that I upgraded to Ultimate. It actually saved me some money because I get the first month (or was it 3) for a dollar. Ultimately (he he) it's the same price I was paying for Gold and Game Pass together, $15. Now I have access to PC stuff. I wonder if I'll get back into PC gaming and if anything will work at all on my Win 7 laptop.
Can you believe the Nintendo 3DS was released 8 years ago in 2011? I don’t like calling a game system ‘dead,’ because I feel a game console in only dead if you don’t play it. But the 3DS is certainly at the end of its retail life cycle, as Nintendo isn’t making any more games for it, focusing solely on the Switch now. So when a game console or handheld reaches that point in its life, I like to write a blog or two highlighting the best games for it (or at least the ones I really liked). So here are some blogs about the best games on the 3DS! There were SO many that I had to split it into two parts. The first part we’re going to go over my favorite downloadable games, along with some other features of the 3DS I really liked.
What is good Pixlpeeps!…also what have I missed? Anything good? Was there a new Blog A Day for August? Well I am here so let’s catch up shall we?
My best friend in childhood got an Atari 2600 Jr. in the twilight years of the system. The 2600 Jr was one of those newer Ataris that was black plastic instead of wood grain. So until he got a NES, we played a lot of well-renowned classics that benefitted from advances in coding but are sadly sometimes hard to find today, like Solaris. One of my favorites, however, was Vanguard. As a kid, I thought Atari made this game, since Atari did the home licensing. I would have never connected it with the same company that did games like Athena, Ikari Warriors, and King of Fighters.
I made some progress on Pre-Sequel today. I'm playing just for story. I want to finish the game and DLC before B3 comes out. Then I dowloaded some new stuff and tried Old Man's Journey from Game Pass. Interesting and beautiful game. More below.
I got stuck in two puzzle games today, Inside (again) and Book of Unwritten Tales 2. I always hope for great things from adventure games but usually they drive me a little crazy. The problems I come across in these games occupy my mind later on. I think I figured out what I need in Book of Unwritten Tales 2 but I'm still clueless in a problem with Inside. What to do.
I've been jumping around alot between different games lately, kinda going by instinct. I played Inside, got stuck, thought about it, returned and then got stuck again. I played Dead Rising 4 because I heard it didn't have time limits like the previous games. So far that's true and I'm loving just wacking my way through zombies and constructing new weapons as I go. But then Torchlight showed up this month as a Games with Gold freebie. I've been wanting to play this for years. So I jumped right in, and so did my friend Mark. I'm diggin' it. Further details follow.
It’s time again for some game reviews I’ve recently written over at GamerDad.com. There’s some pretty good ones in here this time, so do be sure to check them out. Please click on the links and read as many as you can, and maybe even post a ‘like’ or comment or two. I’d appreciate it. OK, time to find out why I named this blog “Buff Penguin Reviews!”
I finally had enough grinding for achievements in Borderlands 2, Xbox 360 version. So much so, that I wiped my whole hard drive of installed games and started over. I'm from here on out not going after achievements or trophies. I really don't have the time, and, after a lot of grinding, reduces my enjoyment of gaming. So today I played a lot of other stuff.
I feel like Dark Souls 3 just came and went without any significant cultural impact like previous From Soft games. I was recently replaying the main 'vanilla' game without the DLC and I got to about 2/3 of the way when I got kind of bored. The weird thing is that I got through a lot of it over a weekend in just a few hours very easily and the whole thing feels like Dark Souls DLC. I've yet to play Sekiro, but after playing DS3, I really want new experiences and hope Souls hybernates for a long while. Bloodborne 2 however, I'm ready for.
I went to gamestop to buy kingdom hearts 3 the other day, but it wasn't on sale so I got a double-pack of Prey and Dishonored 2 for $20. Not sure how I missed these two releases as they seem to have a lot of the gameplay elements and atmosphere that I enjoy in games. Completely forgot about them. I was too busy playing Monster Hunter World I guess? Yeah, recently I've just been playing through whole series and putting off new releases so I've mainly been buying new games on sale later in the year. I'm sure I've missed a lot now. Has any of your gaming habits changed over the years? I don't really keep up with new games any more. A gamestop employee was trying to hype me up about all the new games coming out this year and I wasn't that excited except for maybe Borderlands 3. Poor dude was hyping me up on the new Football game and I had no idea who the super special downloadable athletes are with the pre-order. I just went along with it to make it easier for both of us. Oh I love me some football!
Good morning and look at this a Monday entry. How about that! Since I’m here, you’re here, let’s enjoy/get through my ramblings together. This should be fun (I’m currently thinking about pizza, on a Monday morning, at 9:05, and the local good place doesn’t open for another couple of hours.)
