There are a couple of reasons why I didn't write a Quick Hits blog yesterday. One of the reasons was because I was close to finishing Grand Theft Auto V that I wanted to get it out of the way. Another was I didn't want to write a QH. I had my pictures ready, and I knew what I wanted to talk about but I just didn't want to commit it to paper...err electronic paper. On this fine Saturday morning before I go and resume my CD Saturday where I visit the local mom and pop shop, and sink a couple of hours into finding what hidden gems I can find in the $1.99 section, I thought it was time to add to my blog entry with another edition of Quick Hits with Chris.

The Superhero Shows: The Usual Suspects (Supergirl, Arrow, SHIELD, Legends of Tomorrow)
As I am getting sucked into what is quickly becoming a really good start to the season I also like to point out little things that each show tends to do especially in the DC universe.
Fist Fights: No matter what kind of super powers you have, usually everything is resolved by getting into a fist fight. Laser eyesight? Fist Fight. A Quiver full of arrows? Fist Fight. A group of time travelers? Fist Fight. Marvel's rag tag bunch searching for inhumans? Fist Fight.
Warehouses: Especially in the DC TV Universe everything happens in a warehouse. Seriously National City, and Star City is made up of nothing but warehouses
Easter Eggs to other shows: Supergirl had Lynda Carter on Monday so there were a ton of Wonder Woman Easter Eggs. Legends likes to bring up Star Wars and Star Trek. Arrow LOVES to borrow from the Christian Bale Batman Trilogy.
Being connected to a larger story: SHIELD is part of the Marvel Universe so what happens in the flicks, will effect SHIELD. I wonder how they are going to tie in Dr. Strange. Heck I'd like to see SHIELD show up in Daredevil. DC is different where the TV Universe and Movie Universe is completely different but I am excited about how all the CW shows are going to crossover with each other (actually I don't think Supergirl is part of it because they are on a different timeline. At least that's what Flash said.) I might actually take in an episode of The Flash.
Chris Listens To...
I'm still bummed that I can't use my Android tablet as one hell of a music player because the dang programs won't read off an external storage unit without some help. I mean I can point click on a song and it will play, but I want to have playlists, song ratings, play counts, all the fun things I can do with iTunes, but without carrying my laptop. I thought this would be the perfect setup for a weekend trip: my 8 inch Android Tablet, external hard drive, and a Bluetooth speaker. It''s portable and I can bring my entire music library with me. Hell I was willing to even re-rip my 2400+ CD collection just for this. Thinking about it, I guess I could make this happen with my little laptop I bought a while ago. The only problem with that is that my track pad seems to only work when it wants to. Actually I'm going to give that a try. Damn why didn't I think about that before? It's light, doesn't take up too much power, I can just Velcro an external hard drive to the back of the screen. Damn that's good. I'll keep you posted.
Random Pictures
So earlier in the week it rained and well some parts got a nice downpour while others, like my neighborhood
Yeah #StormWatch2016. At times there was good steady rain and my next worry was whether the wipers on the windshield of the truck were still decent. Southern California, where wippers only get thought of during a rain storm. Afterwards while picking up dinner the rain stopped and I got this view
Not bad.
Thanks for looking at my pictures!
Pickups!
Again no games but I did get a snazzy card from my cousin who visited the various GameStop's around the city
Not a bad pic from my Android Tablet. I have to find my Pokemon game and include that guy into the mix.
Music
Both CDs are from Target (of course)
I saw that this CD was $7 and the lineup looked decent. It's basically a bad mixtape. I thought I would get some enjoyment out of it but I think I found maybe one song that I liked while everything else I felt was filler. Oh well.
I love Phantogram and I didn't realize they had a new CD out. I like it but the album is really short, and it clocks in at 30 minutes. That is my one disappointment with the CD. Throw in a couple of tracks or a remix and get that playtime up to at least 45 minutes.
Techy Crap
Last week I found my micro usb to regular USB cable and I've been connecting USB sticks to my Android Tablet. I thought it would be fun to do the same with my iPad. While I was at it I might as well invest in a USB card reader just in case I wanted to dump pictures off onto my tablets without using the Nikon app to do so wirelessly so for about $10 I ordered this fun stuff from Amazon
Yup that $7 cable for my iDevices is cool except my iDevices won't power anything connected to it. Blah! The USB card reader is freaking awesome and it now lives in my camera bag.
Alright Pixlpeeps I am going to end this conversation here because I want to try my idea about turning my little laptop into a kickass music player...I'll probably once again use iTunes but this time I will rip CDs as mp3 instead of the high quality AAC files...ooh maybe its time to go to Apple Lossless. We'll see. Have a good weekend!
That's all for now, more later!
