My Love/Hate Relationship with Uncharted

I love Uncharted. Well, at least the first and second one (haven't played the third, except for the demo). I think they are so awesome-the exploration, the wonderful areas, and the Tomb Raider/Indiana Jones aspect of the games. It's so much fun to run around the islands and find buried treasure and learn of the previous inhabitants.

I also hate this series.

Because of the weird, enemy twists at the end. I understand what everyone has told me ("well, Darby, you are on an UNCHARTED island, after all, who knows what is there!", but still. I like my human enemies. I enjoy fighting off my human adversaries and racing to find the secret artifact before the bad guys. I really, really dislike the fact that we have to thrown in the descendants and the guardians, and I am 99% sure there is something along those lines in the third game as well.

I appreciate the game for being able to throw us off and surprise us with mysterious things, but I would much rather not have to fight mutated zombies and mystical warriors. I just want to learn about everything, and maybe have a few appreciative jump scares along the way. This all being said though, I am really not the person to scare in a game. I will freak out, I guarantee you. I have never been great at playing games with scary or shocking moments (I can watch people play them, but I'm bad when I get the controller). For example, those of you who have played, remember when your first get into the room with the Descendants coming through the vents and swarming you? Yeah, I stood in the corner and and frantically fired my gun, all while bouncing up and down in my chair making noises of terror.

That might be a little dramatic, but not by a lot.

I really do like these games though, as they are very well designed games. I love the mechanics, the story, the character dynamics...everything about these are awesome. BUT, I would like playing them so much more if I only had to worry about someone with a shotgun around the corner.

I was a bit caught off guard in the first one when they threw the supernatural enemies your way too.  I was like "What?!?"

I'm not a huge fan of these games. granted, I've only played the first, but I got sick of taking down waves of enemies.  You become a mass murderer by the end of those games.  I just wish it was more exploration and platforming, and less cover combat.  but that's just me.

That would have been nice as well, because I really enjoy the exploration aspect of open world games.

I like everything about the games, except those ending twists. They made me really unhappy.

I like the games, 1 was good, 2 was amazing, 3 was better than 1 but not as good as 2. I can see why they do the supernatural thing because the treasures may as well be cursed or something. I don't think I've ever been scared in a game, though I haven't played too many horror games but it takes alot to scare me. I was a bit tense when you had to fight those zombie things in that area when they were coming out of the vents, not because they were terrifying but because of the scarce ammo and you can't melee attack them.

But glad you got to try the games, and if you get 3, and you plan on going online then get the GOTY edition, if not just get the regular game. And you're a member of the staff now, congrats!

That's what else I didn't like! No melee attacks! It was frustrating the whole way around.

I do plan on getting the third game haha. Is there a weird ending to that as well?

Thanks! I'm really happy about it :)

I don't want to spoil it, the set pieces are really great, but on the ending, let's just say it's a bit tame on supernatural stuff imo. Still worth playing atleast once though.
