I think this is the latest I've ever posted my monthly recap. Life has been nuts! We bought our first house at the beginning of July (it was a long process getting to that point) and we are expecting our third baby anytime within the next week, so July was a crazy month of moving in and preparing for the new baby. Plus I've had pretty frequent overtime—nice for the money but not for moving in and prepping for baby 
But I did manage to get some gaming in, as you shall see...

Sega finally announced some new Sonic games in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the series and they sound pretty good. Sonic Mania is a new 2D game with all the benefits of modern technology but it looks old, and you can only play as Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. Most encouraging of all, Sega seems to have realized that they don't make the best Sonic games anymore and have brought in outside help with this one, particularly Christian Whitehead, who did absolute technical wonders for the mobile versions of Sonic 1, 2, and CD.

Last year I read X-Men: The Dark Phoenix Saga trade paperback and really enjoyed it. Last week I got the Days of Future Past TP from the library, started reading it, and discovered that it chronologically follows right after Dark Phoenix. That's a cool bonus for me but I was surprised to find out that most of the book has nothing to do with the titular story. I'm halfway through and the stories seem very insular, unlike Dark Phoenix where everything led to the moment of Jean Grey's death. They're not bad stories, just unrelated. I really liked the first issue in the book because it was basically a recap of all the X-Men comics up to that point. Cyclops was monologuing about everything the X-Men had been through and how he and Jean fit into it. That culminated in Cyclops taking a hiatus from the group to deal with his issues. Since I've read only Dark Phoenix, it was cool to get an overview of everything else that had happened.
