I was never into comics much as a kid. I dunno, guess I just kept busy with other things (like video games), and I was always on a pretty tight budget while growing up. Comics can be expensive! But within the last couple of years I’ve gone on two comics binges.

Windy gardens are the best

After a very productive May, June was slower on the games front. We took two little trips during the month (yay, vacation!) and while I did play games during that time, it was mainly just party and multiplayer stuff, which doesn't do much for my backlog.

Enjoying the sun, hoping not to die horribly

My last blog was right before we left on a little trip. I can't believe it's been a week since we got back! The summer solstice must be getting screwed over because I swear the days are getting shorter 

In about 30 minutes we'll be leaving for the airport to visit my family for a few days. Well, assuming my in-laws are on time to pick us up. It will be very...interesting flying with my not-quite-two-year-old son but my wife has pretty much every possibility prepared for, though I'm sure we'll still have some surprises. Speaking of my wife have I mentioned that she's pregnant? At this point I can't remember who I've told lol. She is about halfway through things (found out last week it's another boy!) and it's just one more thing to make the trip...interesting.

May was a good month for games! At least for me. I've had far too many games going at once these last couple of months and I've finally finished most of them (there are a few stragglers). And not too many new games!

Earlier this week I posted my opinion on what the Game of the Generation was the Wii/PS3/360. (Check out the blog here or in the forums here.) But that game is not my favorite game from these last eight or nine years, and I was happy to see plenty of others seemed to agree with me. You see, my favorite game from last gen is definitely Super Mario Galaxy. I won't go into great detail (Alex-C25 wrote a great love letter to the game not long ago, which you should totally read if you haven't) but let me paint with some broad strokes. Super Mario Galaxy is the essence of fun, boiled down its purest form. The game is simply a joy to play, and the amount of creativity on display is astounding. It looks great and I love the orchestrated soundtrack. But mainly...it's just so dang fun, and isn't that the point of games in the first place?
