I wasn’t sure at first if I was going to do a ‘best games of the decade’ blog since I wasn’t clear if the decade ends at 2019 or 2020.  But then I looked at the last time I wrote a ‘best games of the decade’ blog and it was at the beginning of 2010, and it went from 2000 to 2009, so I figured I’d do one now after all.  I provided a link to my last ‘best games of the decade’ blog because I thought it was interesting to read something I wrote ten years ago.  So we’re doing it again, although it’s pretty much the games that won my “Game of the Year” award for the past ten years. 

Just got back from PAX South last week so I’ve written an article about it and here’s some more game reviews comin’ atcha as well!  Please click on the links and read as many as you can, and maybe even post a ‘like’ or comment or two.  I’d really appreciate it.  So grab your shovel, we’ve got a lot to dig through here!

It’s that time of year again!  It’s the Cary’s Best Games of 2019 Awards Show blog!  Keep in mind that no outside opinions went into the making of this list.  It’s just my own picks.  And if a game is missing from my list, it either didn’t appeal to me as much, or I just simply haven’t played it yet.  Can’t play all the games out there, you know!

At the beginning of every year I like to write a blog about the games I’m looking forward to in that coming year, so here we are again with games I’m looking forward to in 2020!  Now keep in mind that these aren’t ALL the games I’m looking forward to.  More will be announced at E3 and such I’m sure as the year goes on.  And there are some games that I’m looking forward to that have been announced, but I’m not sure they’ll really come out in 2020, like Breath of the Wild 2 and Metroid Prime 4.  But you never know.  But here are a list of 2020 games that I’m PRETTY sure are coming this year and I’m looking forward to them.

Recently I reviewed SkullGirls: 2^nd Encore.  It’s a 2-D one-on-one fighter with cartoony graphics and I’ve been wanting to review it since 2012 when it came out, but for whatever reasons I wasn’t able to.  But I got my chance when it came out on the Switch!  For what’s considered an indie game, this one is very good.  Almost on par with fighters like BlazBlue and Guilty Gear!  I was very impressed with the creativity of the characters and even the storylines in the Story Mode were pretty interesting.  And usually they aren’t in fighting games.  So when that happens, I usually like to write a blog about the characters, and so we’ll do that here.  Some slight story spoilers here and there, just to warn you, but the game HAS been out since 2012.

Like I said, I saved the best for last.  These final Genesis Mini games are the ones that impressed me the most, or at least impressed me that they got put on here in the first place!  Most of these games have never been on a Genesis collection before, and some have never been released at all!  So let’s take a look at them!

In this second batch of games found in the SEGA Genesis Mini, we’ll look at a variety of first party and third party games.  Some of these have been on previous Genesis collections, but most of these haven’t.  The only other thing most of the games in this section have in common is that most of them didn’t impress me much when playing them now.  But don’t worry, like I said, we’ll get to the good stuff in the next blog, I promise!
