Guess what?  Today (September 15) is my birthday!  So you’re all invited to my pretend birthday party right here on my blog!  We’ll do what I always do every year.  Please give me a pretend birthday present in the comments section.  It can be anything you want!  It’s the thought that counts…literally!  I could use some pretend birthday presents because I’m turning 39 this year so I could use some cheering up!  Ha ha!  And if you give me a pretend birthday present, you get a piece of pretend birthday cake!  And since it’s pretend birthday cake, if you eat it, you’ll get super strength and fire breath!  And speaking of presents, I have some gifts for you!  Game reviews recently posted at GamerDad.com!  Yay!  Please read as many as you can and maybe even post a comment or two.  I’d appreciate it.  Thanks!

This past weekend I attended PAX Prime in Seattle and wrote a few articles about it at GamerDad.com.  It was a lot of fun, and I’d like to encourage you all to click on the links in this blog and read my articles and post comments if you can.  It would be much appreciated.  I played a lot of games, attended a lot of meetings, took some cool pictures, and even met a celebrity!  It was definitely one of the better PAX conventions I’ve been to, so please do check my articles out!

Well another summer is almost over, and I watched a lot of summer movies in theaters this year.  So I thought I’d write a blog with brief impressions on them!  Keep in mind that there MIGHT be some slight spoilers here and there, but I’ll try to keep them to a minimum.  So grab your popcorn and see what I watched this summer!

We’ll conclude Squid Week (it’s like Shark Week, but with squids) with a look at some of my favorite tentacled creatures in video games.  This includes both squids and octopi (octopuses is actually an acceptable plural form of octopus, too, I looked it up).  So hide the calamari and let’s begin!

You know how the Discovery Cable Channel has Shark Week?  Well this week we’re going to have Squid Week, with squid themed blogs at the beginning and end of the week.  This first blog will be about Splatoon.  It’s been a very well-received Wii U title and a lot of people have praised it.  But not a lot have talked about the retro-styled mini-games in Splatoon, so I’m going to do that right now!

Lately I’ve been working on reviewing a lot of downloadable indie Wii U games lately.  I’ve got four on my list right now, with a good possibility of more to come later.  The Wii U has been doing a pretty good job of having a sizable list of indie games in their eShop roster lately.  They’ve been a godsend since it’s getting harder and harder to review mainstream titles recently.  And it got me to thinking about my favorite indie video game characters.  So here’s a blog about that.  Enjoy! 

Can you believe this year is already half over?  What I like to do this time of year is write about the best games of the year 2015 so far.  Everyone is all excited over the E3 announcements, and most of the really good titles come out during the Christmas season at the tail end of the year, and the games that come out earlier tend to be forgotten.  So this is where those games get their due.
