I always wanted to try Golf Story. I think I even tried to request a review copy of it.

Here's another sample of the music. Keep in mind this is playing while you're simply bopping a ball back and forth with a paddle. Taito's in-house band, Zuntata, is awesome.
The Arkanoid series is special to me because it's one of the few games my dad really likes. It was one of the first games I got on the NES, too!
I don't think Brothership's that bad at all. Sure it's not the best in the series and there are some parts that are slightly annoying and tedious, but overall I'm enjoying it.
When I was a kid, I loved the LucasFilm Games point and click adventures. My favorite was Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders. I also really like the Sam & Max games.
I don't know if they have a demo of it, but maybe try Ys VIII as well. One of my brothers once described it as "Jurassic Park: The JRPG."
Arkanoid DS got a lot of bad reviews, but I really liked it. It's my favorite in the series. The music is SO good that I imported the soundrack on CD. I felt like the music was wasted there, but luckily Taito repurposed all the songs in their music game series Groove Coaster which you can play on mobile devices, consoles, and even in the arcade!
Really hope you get a chance to play Arkanoid DS. It got a lot of bad reviews, but I really liked it. My favorite in the series.
One genre you might want to add if you feel like it are point and click adventures. Maybe.
When I played Patapon on PSP, I felt the demo of that game was better than the game itself.
So are you playing a demo of Ys IX or X? Ys X: Nordics is the new game out so I just wanted to know which one you are trying?
Waifu...isn't that what you hook your internet up to? :)
If you can find 8-bit Adventures 2 real cheap, I'd say get it. Rogue Sentry is not that great, though. I can think of a lot better twin stick shooters to play. Same thing goes with BlockBlast. I can think of a lot better games in that style. If you have an old DS, I'd highly recommend Arkanoid DS. The music in that game has no right to be that good for a game in that genre.
