I guess you haven't watched a lot of it then.  Oh well.  It was a good show for a while.

100% And One Week Later: Super Mario Odyssey Review

I enjoyed the game and I think it's neat how they encouraged exploration and curiosity.  I do think that it's a bit overhyped, though.  And as far as simply beating the game goes, this is one of the easiest Mario games I've played since Super Mario 3-D Land.  But that's not always a bad thing as it means younger players can have a feeling of accomplishment, and I think that's a good thing.  The post game reward for immediately beating the game was great, but after that, nah, I'm not going to get all those moons!

My favorite parts were the 2-D 8-bit sections.  My favorite kingdoms were the Wooded Kingdom, New Donk City, and the Mushroom Kingdom.  Also, Bowser's new castle was a neat change.

Overall, it's a fun game but it's not going to win any of my Game of the Year awards.  I enjoyed Breath of the Wild and Samus Returns much more.  And right now, I'm actually looking forward to that Animal Crossing mobile game, too.  Yeah, I'm insane.  --Cary

Everyone says Pokemon Channel was the worst Pokemon game, but I loved it.

Also, everyone raves about how amazing Earthbound was, but I didn't like it that much.

I REALLY like the SNES Classic Edition.  Way better than Odyssey.

My SNES Classic Nightmare (a “dream” from the mind of a VR Sociopath)

Posted on 11/02/2017 at 01:01 PM | Filed Under Blogs

Now that's a crazy dream!  My dreams are very vivid and detailed.  In fact, most feel very real and when I first wake up, I'm a bit disoriented for a second trying to figure out where I am!

One time I had a video game dream that was so real and epic, I had to write it down right away.  I think I even posted a blog about it at 1up.com.  I dreamed that I was a character in a new Final Fantasy game.  I won't go into the details, but the storyline was more interesting than many modern FF games to me.  In the dream, I was a white mage.  I even remember feeling the cold air as I rode the airship, and I even put the hood up over my head to keep warm!

I preordered my SNES Classic at two different stores, and they both got cancelled.  But luckily, my family was able to get one for me for my birthday, so you can guess what my next blog will be about!

Well it looks like my time with Odyssey is finished

Huh, that is unusual.  When I revisited the Lost Kingdom, I didn't see that bird at all.  If you can't find a solution on the Internet, my suggestion would be to write Nintendo a VERY DETAILED email to their customer service department about what you are experiencing.  In my 30 plus years of dealing with Nintendo's customer service, they've always been very helpful.  Even if they can't help you right away, your email may help them pinpoint a bug that they can then fix with a possible update patch.  I think this actually happened with one of their recent 3-D Zelda games.

Worse case scenario, if you have to start the game over again, it shouldn't take you too long to get back to where you were.  I was able to beat the main game in less than a week.  And that's playing rather casually, too.  For me, Odyssey was one of the easiest 3-D Mario titles to beat since Super Mario 3-D Land.  And after beating the game, the post game rewards are well worth it, especially if you're a Mario 64 fan.  I'd even say the game doesn't really even start until after you beat it.

Under-Appreciated Awesomeness: Shmups!

Some of my favorite 2-D shooters include 1943, the Darius series, Metal Black, Gradius series, Parodius series, and Ordyne.
