My first JRPG was Dragon Warrior on the NES. My friend had it, and I'd go over to his house and we'd play it. It was fun, but not enough to make me want to buy it. Later when the SNES came out, I played FF2 (4) and was hooked on 16-bit RPGs from then on.
I know that I've written 1up memories blogs before. I think the 1up E3 meetings were around 2004-2006-ish.
I started an account at 1up back in 2004, just a few months after it originally opened. I was there for a good eight years until it closed its doors. That was a pretty sad day when that happened. I have so many good memories of the 1up site, I could write a whole blog about it. I think my favorite was when 1up had a little get-together party at their booth at E3 (when I could go to E3), and we all got free t-shirts (still have mine). I even applied for a few jobs at 1up, but I was always rejected. Oh well.
But I'm glad PixlBit was around when 1up went away so I could continue doing what I enjoy: writing about video games. There are a few people from 1up who don't post here that I still keep up with on Facebook, but other than that, this is it. There are a lot of people from 1up that I miss, too.
Well, then it looks like I won't be getting the game then. I have the big hard drive on my Wii U, but it's getting pretty full already because I review so many games. Any game over 4GB should be on disc anyway. I know we'll eventually get to be just downloadable only, but I don't think we're quite there yet. Very disappointing, Nintendo. Oh well, thanks for the info anyway.
The 360 was released in 2005? I thought it was 2006. Oh well, I never had an original Xbox anyway, and I didn't get a 360 until summer of 2007.
Again, lots of good games came out in the 2004-2006 time. I can't remember, but I think the Phoenix Wright games came out about this year. I know my Game of the Year in 2005 was Psychonauts. Have you ever played that one?
Well, more of a 'so bad it's good' kind of way.
I was always kind of curious about this game because I like ghosts, but I never got a chance to play it when it first came out. Luckily, when Tecmo released it digitally on the PS3, they sent me a review code so I finally got to play it. The only problem I had with the first game was your character moves too slow. A ghost pops up and your girl character lumbers around like she just got out of bed! She should've eaten a big bowl of Cheerios before going inside that haunted house! Any time I died in the game was because Little Miss Girly Girl wouldn't move fast enough.
You may not know it, but there IS a Fatal Frame game on the 3DS that you can get in the US, but it goes under a different name: Spirit Camera. But it's a Fatal Frame game all right. It's only 20 bucks on Amazon, so you should check it out if you are a big fan of the series. I have it and I enjoyed it a bit.
I heard about the Fatal Frame Wii U title, but I haven't seen it listed on any store sites. Is it only going to be on the eShop? I'd buy the game right away if I could get a physical copy of it, but if it's digital only I may wait a while, especially if it's expensive or takes up a ton of memory.
Good to know, thanks.
The Yo-Kai Watch cartoon started airing on Disney XD last week. It's...not very good. But it's funny in a MST3K kind of way.
