Yeah,I haven’t put up a blog in forever! Most of you know I got caught up in gamer-gate and I will not waste time telling everyone where I stand right down to the smallest detail. It’s my “own thing” and silly and inconsequential to all my friends on the side-lines.
I just hope there aren’t any hard feelings. I know lately when I try to talk to old pals from pixlbit I largely get ignored. Don’t worry, I’m not offended! I realize I retweet a lot of spam & lewds so if you all muted me I get it. (Many of you have jobs and some of the material I deal with is very NSFW. lol.) Regardless, I never wanted to step on anyone’s toes.
My art gallery is expanding and I’m having to write up descriptions for my setting and characters. To see all that madness you can go here! The gallery certainly has become a time-sink of sorts as well.
When it comes to games I recently beat Resident Evil Revelations 2. Beyond for some stuttering frame-rate when transitioning between areas the game is surprisingly good and even genuinely scary sometimes! I ended up enjoying it much more than Evil Within which kind of surprised me. (I’m referring to the 360 disk version…I still have hang-ups buying episodic content.)
I also got Mortal Kombat Unchained for my psp. It’s simply a re-tooled version of Deception. That’s alright as I thought Deception was one of the better MK games overall.
Welp,I’m at the end of my rope! I hope ya’ll have been okay and sorry if I came off as abandoning the community. Life has simply taken me in some unplanned directions as of late.
out of three Last Comic Standing contestants and split the $100 for 2nd place with the other guy.
I've come to a very big conclusion that Story of Seasons has set a bar for farming simulation games and if Natsume really wants Harvest Moon to continue on their gonna need to step up the game. For those who don't know, Marvelous acquired the Bokuj? Monogatari series in 2003 which for a long time was being published here in North America as Harvest Moon under Natsume. Well within the last year they decided to not use Natsume and instead gave it to Xseed which is company under them. However with that choice came a price, they could not use the name Harvest Moon for the title. Not only that Natsume has decided to carry on Harvest Moon now has its on IP. Natsume released their very first Harvest Moon title last year and it kind of gave alot of people a bad taste in their mouth. The game was really a cut down verison of what it use to be. I can say for myself that while I liked a few things about the title, I traded it in not long after purchase. The things I did like we're the minecraft style create your own huge farm and stamina seemed to last a long time. Things I didn't like? There was no town, no tool upgrades, and for some odd reason they thought having 3 bachelor's and bachelorette's per gender was a good idea. Now I know the last reason sounds silly has hell but bear with me.
Hey folks, I’ve got some good news and some bad news. First the bad news. My request for getting a press pass into E3 this year got rejected. That’s the third year in a row. I probably won’t even try next year. Three strikes and you’re out. But I’m not going to complain about it. Well, I might complain about it a little later on, but not right now. You know, when something goes on that I don’t like, I try not to complain about it too much, but instead I try and DO something about it. You know, like instead of griping about game award shows, I just make my own in a blog. Which brings me to my good news. I’ve decided to have my OWN convention. It’ll be called CaryCon, and it’ll be held at The Colony Convention Center at the end of next month during the weekend of April 31st. Read on for full details and how YOU can get in for free!
Some thoughts/ideas for tomorrow's rumored games
So, something Nick and I discussed before was bringing the game "Mafia" to PixlBit. At one point, Nate had some interest in hosting a game for everyone, but it was never able to get off the ground. I'm looking into starting something. Please note, this is not a sign-up. It's a blog to gauge interest.
Second weekend day of gaming today, but first last night after I wrote my Sunday blog. I got in some Pokemon Shuffle mainly to clear the street passes, but I played the main quest until I was out of hearts. It might have been about an hour. It's simple fun. I really liked the music actually. There was some that sounded like traditional Japanese music. I enjoyed that a lot. I think I wouldn't mind being surrounded by that sound more often.
My new favorite band, Dengue Fever. These guys are from Cambodia and they are amazing.
Pixlbit, how are you good people doing on this fine morning? Here in Sunny Southern California ITS FREAKING HOT! There is no such thing as Spring, as we went from the nice Winter weather to almost hitting triple digits. The one positive about this (yeah there is one) is that I can leave for the midweek/weekend Swapmeet a half hour later and the sun is still out and most of the vendors are already set up. I have some cool stuff to share on Friday!
So I've been playing borderlands 2 on my vita at night at work. When I originally got the vita set I didn't sink any time into the game. I found many another game to jump into so I didn't fully start enjoying it till recently. However I'm noticing a few things. While some are just minor glitches to the loading times taking a long time, the game has a tendency to freeze which in turn requires I restart the Vita. Upon booting the game back up, I then must redo what I was currently working on. While glitches and loading times can be overlooked this freezing thing is really beginning to make me wish that I had a physical copy to sell then a digital that is forever stuck in my library. Unless Gamestop decides to really start accepting digital goods like it was being rumored long ago. Idk if it's a game issue or if maybe the vita is handling more then it should. I remember Dan saying he wished they would port the pre sequel to vita. I honestly believe they shouldnt if problems like these will exist.
I didn't have much time to game today - family stuff - but I had a few hours and was able to get my orginal Xbox setup at my friend's place. I tried to hook up an ethernet cable for system link games with my friend's Xbox but it wouldn't work. Apparently you need a "crossover" ethernet cable for original Xbox and not the regular one. I used to have one of those because we used to play system link for games like Brute Force back in the day, but I don't know where I put it. Looks like I'll have to make a quick trip to the computer store tomorrow.
I turned 25 Monday, March 23 after having come back from spring break, which was mostly dedicated to entering survey data and shitting. Lots of shitting. For those of you with not much fruit in your diet, I suggest easing back into it. Otherwise, you might have some rumblies when going out to eat with family for St. Paddy's Day and early birthday celebrations. I'm nowhere near where I thought I would be at this age, but I'm not sad about it. Life is good.
Ranger Stuff: First day back to work at the Park!!! To say I'm happy about it is an understatement. I woke up not feeling so great this morning and debated working today (I usually have Sundays off until Memorial weekend), but I'm glad I went in. Pretty easy first day, mostly catching up with my boss about stuff from the winter, as well as upcoming events. Then a quick cruise through the parking lots picking up a minimal amount of trash and noting what trees need to come down this spring and which signs need work, and then Andy (my boss) met me and we scouted for the pre-school program for our intern. No animal tracks to be found, but it's terrible snow for tracking right now. Then we went down to shore to check and see if the island ospreys were back yet. Nope, not an osprey to be seen. I think this may be the first year I've come back before them. We also have a very fat red squirrel hanging out on the little covered entryway and getting into the litter bucket. I think she's preggers, so probably eating for five. She's not happy with me, I put a lid on the bucket so she couldn't strew trash all over the yard at HQ.

Hello Pixlbit family thought I would say goodbye for a week or so I'm officially off work and getting my Hip Replaced Monday and to say I'm scared is a understatement, yes I know I will be fine but your talking with someone who has never broken a bone or had surgery ever I think I have had stitches twice and me being scared is more about being in the Hospital then the surgery I hate hospitals with a passion and the thought of staying has got me going nuts but I'm going to swap my Android Tablet for my son's iPad so I can get Panzer Corps and Vietnam 1965 by Slitherine, Panzer Corp is the new and improved Panzer General for this generation and it's huge and everything I want with a war game.
First of all if you use the Web version of PSN choices like weekly deals and other stuff are missing from the menu and some things aren't selectable.
I thought I might start a habit of fishing the game stores on Saturdays and hook a few new things to fill out my library of games. I made a list of stuff to cast for (I made it large so I'd at least find something) and headed out to the mall where there is a retro game store and several Gamestops. I was also going there to get some street passes and some Chick-fil-a. Yum! Let's see what the nets brought in this week.

Atelier Shallie : Alchemists of the Dusk Sea ~Review~
I’ve never played an Atelier game before—ever! I like Anime and Japanese role-playing games, but the prospect of having to make EVERYTHING to use in the game, including healing items, armor, weapons and all of the base elements required to synthesize before you make those things I just mentioned through harvesting and also time sensitive objectives that make up the core gameplay experience, has always discouraged me from trying these games out.
Atelier Shallie, however, is one of the most streamlined and approachable games to come along for newcomers like me. For starters, there are no time sensitive objectives any more. You can progress the story further or hang out and synthesize or go out harvesting all you want with no time limit whatsoever. It’s more of an open world experience. The game gives you experience for almost every stupid little thing you do like walking or talking to anybody, so you can level your character and alchemy experience very easily. The synthesis menu list all the recipes you’ve learned, including any missing items you need to gather and there are plenty of recipe books to acquire through shops or story progression. The fusion system can get very deep, but I was able to make all of my items without any real penalty.
Now, the thing that I really enjoyed about the game, surprisingly, was the combat! You have between 6-8 characters to build a party from towards the end of the game, which is about 35+ hours long, and your party members all have flashy skills and super moves, and the bosses can get pretty tough and tricky at times, as well as some of the enemies out on the field. On the surface the game looks like any other generic Anime role-playing game, but its crafting system is pretty fun and deep but easy to use and the combat is pretty fun and has enough of a challenge to keep battles interesting.

You can play as either of two characters, who pretty much join each other and follow the same overall path half-way through the game, but they have slightly different stories and your stuff carries over in new game + so you can play with the other character to see their side of the story. The story I played through reminded me of a Final Fantasy game. In it, a young girl alchemist, Princess Stera, travels by airship over a sand ocean to seek help to solve her homelands drought. On the way her ship is attacked by a sand dragon, and gets stranded in a city where she has to use alchemy to do odd-jobs to repair her ship, and later to explore the world to solve the water crisis. Very formulaic, but epic enough to keep me invested in the characters and story nonetheless. Overall, I’m a fan of this series now and can’t wait to see where else they go with it in the future as this is the last entry in the Dusk series, and last Atelier game on PS3 until PS4.
