It's taken forever, I know, but no one I know really actually uses it. But fuck it, I thought I'd try and keep up on gaming news and the like, so why not.
Hello Pixlbit, it's a new year, well, already 3 months into the new year. And its a new older me
I'm in the part in The Last of Us where Ellie is talking to David. David sounds like Trey Parker and/or Matt Stone and the fact they are in either Utah or Colorado is not at all helping the fact I can't take this guy seriously because he sounds like a South Park character. Also makes me think of a certain musical ... wondering if this was intentional.
This is definitely the latest I've ever posted one of these recaps. I had the one-two punch moving last week, not having internet, and then heading straight back to work. (I guess that's three punches lol.) The new apartment is great but we still have stuff everywhere. But that's not what I'm here to talk about, so let's get to it!
Hello there Picklebits, hope your weekend is going well.
Well as the title implies I've officially moved and I'm sick. Last night my nose started running and it has since turned into a cold and sore throat. It would be my luck to get sick during the last days of winter. Since me and Dan decided to skip cable and use Hulu and Netflix I've been watching Lupin The Third. If your looking for a good old anime Lupin is definitely worth watching. It revolves around the crazy antics of a gentleman thief named Lupin and his 2 and sometimes 3 friends pulling heist or other law breaking stunts. There is also Zenigata or as Lupin calls him Pops who chases after Lupin and the gang. He is an interpol officer wanting to personally arrest and put away Lupin. The show is hilarious and if your not laughing your for damn sure smiling watching it. Again, if you have not seen this show, I highly recommend it. Over in the states we only got Part 2 and forward starting the first season. Part 1 never came over here apparently, atleast not dubbed. I also found out a new Lupin The Third anime is coming in April. I'm excited for it, I'm big Lupin fan. I wish I could get my hands on the manga. I doubt it though oh and there is a live action movie but it's only released in Japan so I have no clue if it's any good. Anywho I'm gonna go for now. I have one more blog I atleast would like to get posted today but I'll have to see how I feel about typing it up. It's an achievement I recently made and by recently I mean last night before my sinuses went to hell.
They're on sale in the office upstairs and damn they're tempting. There were also free cupcakes, so I took one. I hate how those tiny sweets can set you back so many damn calories and with no protein to show for it really.
Pixlbit it is Friday, and it is time for us to get back into Quick Hits, but before I do that how are you good folks? Everything good? I’m currently a bit cranky because it is No Meat Friday, and I have a Fillet O-Fish in my future and maybe a cheese pizza (I have a package of pepperoni I throw on the leftovers to “Un-Lent” the pizza on Saturday morning.) It is a nice Friday Morning here, and I am back on my Ice Water kick. For a week or two it was nothing but Root Beer, and Ginger Ale, anything that doesn’t have caffeine. Anyways I am here, you folks are here, let’s get started with another Quick Hits with Chris.
One of the more accessibile tracks this crazy bugger ever released. Bad video but the audio is pretty good.
Talking about Dragon Magazine 83, March 1984, a month and year when lots of interesting music came out. The one that made the biggest impact on me was the soundtrack to the film Against All Odds, a movie out that same month. It featured the titular song by Phil Collins and two other exclusive songs by former and current Genesis members: Walk Through the Fire by Peter Gabriel and Mike Rutherford’s Making a Big Mistake. Against All Odds was a decent Phil Collins track, but the other two made it onto my cassette mixes.
My review is still being edited, so I'll post the link later. In the meantime, the survey for my thesis is live and the link is here if you want to take it: http://sfasu.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_6L3FeoQOHlxD3pP
Thank goodness February is over. Never liked that month. We’ll start off the new one with another batch of game reviews I’ve recently written over at GamerDad.com. Please click on the links and read as many as you can, and maybe even post a comment or two. I’d appreciate it. Thanks.
The shitty weather reared its unyielding, indifferent head again and pelted my area with more snow and some ice yesterday. No work yesterday or today but the sun is out, in its in the mid-30s and some of this shit is starting to melt away so I predict I'll be back at work tomorrow. Which is fine. I just didn't want to have to travel or work in this mess while it was happening.
Hello Pixlbit sorry I haven't been on much but my gaming has been Battle Academy a game im sure 90% of you all are not the least bit interested in, but I did want to let you all know on March 30th im getting a total Hip replacement and im very nervous about it to say the least, I have never broken a bone or had any surgery ever but its something that just happened and nothing I did but my hip is a mess and after 7 years of putting it off the time has finally come.
Beat Tormentum today. Review should be up on plus10damage.com soon and I will post a link then.
During my free time over the last 5 days I've watched a guy play Resident Evil: Revelations 2 on Twitch. I read an article about the design of Doom. I looked at spell lists and videos for a Skyrim build I'm planning on playing. I watched the Angry Video Game Nerd play some Super Ghouls and Ghosts. I watched a discussion on a piece of 3D concept art for the upcoming Unreal Tournament game. I looked up armor and skill information for Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. I chatted about Metal Gear Solid V in a forum. Watched an Arkham Knight gameplay demo. Contemplated whether I should buy Darkest Dungeon, RE REv 2, or Wolfenstein: New Order. Wrote a list of older games I want to complete this year. Amidst all of this game related activity, the one thing I didn't do was play games for more than 1 hour. This is a problem. A first world problem.
Caroline, you're breaking my heart, but I remain unchanged.
Featuring the beautiful horn work of the great Mel Collins (we are not worthy). I find this song moving.
This is an hour and eleven minute recording I'm listening to to help me get my work done while the vacuous admin assistant sitting beside me babbles on about all the stuff she doesn't know.
I played quite a bit of Tormentum: Dark Sorrow last night, and as someone who rarely ever plays point-and-click games, if at all (I probably played some in middle school, when my mom was the computer teacher and I had nothing else to do until 6PM), I'm enjoying it well enough. The puzzles are not too tough so far, but challenging enough not to feel completely useless. Granted, I admit to solving one or two through pure trial and error. And the art direction is very H.R. Giger, with an H.P. Lovecraft kind of story. I'm probably not familiar enough with either's work to be making those claims, but if you ever play this, I bet you'll agree the game seems inspired by those guys.
Since Feb was kind of a dry spell for games, for me anyhow, I've been watching more films than gaming or reading. As for games, I finished up Metroid Prime and started playing more Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on WiiU.
For some reason Divergent never really caught my attention when it released. All I remember about it was that it was a cheap looking knock-off of Hunger Games, but after watching I have to say that although they share similarites, I think Divergent sets itself apart enough for me to have enjoyed the movie on its own merits.
