Willkommen flatlanders! Some days of the week I wear a collared shirt, but it annoys me to tuck it in. So I don’t, but I imagine people are thinking I am a slob. So I thought I’d compromise and go Nathan Drake on it and do the half-tuck. But, I’m not sure how that works. So let’s take look at that.

You can call me a hypocrite all you want. I won't deny that there is a hint of truth behind it, well, when it comes to Review Sites anyway and how I feel about them-- they seem more like fanboy marketing departments for games companies rather than consumer advocates sometimes. I used to follow Joystiq.com but more recently read their MMO focused site Massively regularly. Recently Joystiq dropped reviews for their games because they caused controversy and didn't align with Metacritic rules or whatever, but I suspect the real reason was that their bad reviews for games was affecting the salaries of the developers. This I think is bullshit. If the game is bad then say it's bad, controversy or not. Reviews should help consumers know if a product is good or bad, and if a game is released buggy and unplayable, then it is bad. You don't give benefit of the doubt to Devs.
Massively on the other hand is a really great MMO site and I have a lot of respect for them because they don't necessarily give MMOs reviews, but they play the hell out of MMO games for a long time, like years, and cover them with daily or weekly blogs, like ours on here on Pixlbit, because MMOs are always evolving and it just makes sense to have continued coverage. They've been covering every MMO release for years and I really appreciate the hard work that goes into doing that. It's pretty daunting. Their podcasts are very informative and they keep up to date with all the MMO news, patches, updates and even answer questions from followers and comments sections regularly.
So, it really pains me to see these two gaming sites go down. Although I have mixed issues about Joystiq, they did a hell of a job covering the gaming community for years plus their articles are more blog-like and personal which I enjoyed. First it was 1up.com, now Joystiq and Massively. Part of the reason I started blogging regularly was to fill a void that was left behind after 1up went down. I was considering giving blogging/gaming a break for a while but now that two more sites have gone down, I feel like I should be blogging more regularly than before, especially since Massively went down, which I visited daily actually.
Hopefully these sites will exist and live on in another format the way some 1up writers went over to USGamer. Speaking of which, USGamer has a new podcast which features Jeremy Parish and Bob Mackey, plus Kat Bailey is doing an RPG podcast soon.
As much as I like to complain about other sites, I still feel like the writing community is quite small and niche and I'd hate for more sites and their communites to disappear. Speaking of which the reason for the sites going down has some other bullshit to do with page views or something? I feel like more blogging is the best way to keep the game enthusiast fire alive.
What are y'alls thoughts on Joystiq, Massively and the AOL sites shutdowns in general. I feel like this is bigger news than Microsoft Hololens or whatever.

I meditaded a bit on repeating BaD (Blog a Day to the uninformed) or pass it due to starting life at university. Now, i'm not having that much when it comes to work at university, as so far it's been reading texts and participating in class, but there's still a load of things to read. During the past 5 days, i've been debating it, but now I can say: I'm back for round two.
I'm dreading this but, it's gotta be done. While Costume Quest 2 does have its nice qualities it's bad ones shine the brightest. It carries most of the original formula but somethings added just made the experience bleh.
Hey guys. I'm planning a weekly series where I give obscure games or games that got undeserved bashings some spotlight. So check it out: http://plus10damage.com/blog/2015/1/28/under-appreciated-awesomeness-vol-1
I got The Last Of Us Remaster Bundle for a cool 350 american. Bought 3 months of plus, and am about to buy the Resident Evil Remaster.
Well it's almost here. I can taste it... February is coming and while I'm hardly a blogging savvant or any savvant for that matter...speaking of which I'm probably spelling savvant wrong, but I like to be fancy by using big words.
Three more weeks of high school basketball. Its crazy how this school not really known for its prowess at the sport takes it so seriously. Maybe I'm mistaking enthusiasm for virtually every parent with a student using it as family time, regardless of the skill involved. It'll take a while to get there but it'll die soon. In the meantime, I hope boys stop pissing on the floor in one of the restrooms. Go outside to the nearest tree, you little shit.
Pixlbit Nation, how are you? Currently in what is normally sunny Southern California, it is 59 degrees and there is some rain, which means in Southern California: IT’S STORM WATCH 2015. Yes SoCal can’t handle weather that isn’t hot and not hot. While browsing through the internets I saw that Dr. Dre Beats Mixr’s were on clearance at Target for $70 so naturally I had a reason to visit Target…other than buying eggs. It turns out they are still full retail so I left with my eggs and I am currently enjoying Taco Bell’s Bacon Crunchwrap (the Octagon shaped flat burrito) and I writing a new Quick Hits! Let’s get started!
But I do like BaD, so here's the deal for this year: Give me a game or series I haven't written a blog on in the comments section. I'll write a blog about that game if I've played it. Or if you can't think of a game you want, post "I want Casey to talk about Pokemon." Because writing about Pokemon makes me happy.
So I played Lords of the Fallen this morning finally. I bought it last year toward the end but I haven't actually played it, till today. I fucking suck at it :(. The control scheme is gonna take some work to get used to. Ur attack and defense buttons are the back triggers while the buttons I'm use to using are items and X is for dodging. I'm gonna not give up on it, I'm gonna give it my best to try and learn the game. Hopefully I improve or you might just see a Debbie downer blog about how I can't get passed the first part of the game LOL!
The first month of the new year certainly has been interesting. Some big changes are on the rise next month so if I fade in and out just know I'll miss you all and I'll be on whenever I can. I'll also try to comment on as many blogs as possible but for the most part I'll be lurking in the shadows when I can. I doubt I'll participate in BAD because of this but I'll make an effort to blog as much as I can when I can be here. whow knows things could work in reverse and I be on here all the time. Figured I'd give a heads up to that so worse case ya know. I beat a few games this month, non are really big achievements but still glad can say there finished
Concerning Dragon Magazine 81, January 1984, the year Dr. Seuss (Theodor Geisel) was given the Pulitzer Prize. He also published The Butter Battle Book, a tale metaphorical of The Cold War arms race. In ’89, a TV special was made of it directed by famous animator Ralph Bakshi! There were a couple of Dr. Seuss video games made based on the movies. There was The Grinch on PS1, which also got ported to DS. It looks pretty average but at least they give you a jet pack. Then, there was Cat in the Hat for PS2/Xbox that looks a little bit better. Here’s a commercial for it:
Since the whole Metroid Prime Trilogy is on sale for $10 on WiiU eshop, I'd like to know if anyone played the game on Wii and what you think of motion controls? I'm disappointed that Nintendo didn't allow for Gamepad or ProControl support. I got to bust out the dusty old Wii Motes and look for batteries I guess. But, my God! $10 for all 3 games! OMG!
So with my 30th birthday passing by I think I can safely say that I feel old, but then my backaches might be caused by sleeping oddly in bed. For my birthday I dined at a couple of restaurants with my folks, though we did a couple because one was off one with the other working that day and vice versa on the next. As for games I actually managed to get two (with 20 of the $25 from one of my aunts and uncles, plus a $10 from the folks, going to my eshop and the remaining $5 going to Steam): Shantae: The Pirates Curse and The Blackwell Legacy. As I have said in the edit of my last blog I couldn’t really beat Fire Emblem Awakening over the weekend because I would be going up against literally armies of game combatants, so I just booted up some games instead of forcing myself to win a lengthy war.
This past weekend I went to PAX South in San Antonio, TX. I’ve gone to PAX in Seattle for many years, so I thought it was cool they had one near where I live (I’m north of Dallas, TX). I wrote a couple of articles about PAX South over at GamerDad.com. Please click on the links in this blog and read the articles if you can. I’d appreciate it.
I scoffed at the idea of Dragons Dogma becoming a subscription based MMO, but as it turns out it will be Free To Play and you can play with up to 4 players online. It's supposed to come out on PC, PS3 and PS4 but I don't know about a western release.
These items popped up on my Facebook feed and I'm sharing with you good folks. Have a great Thursday!
