First of all, Happy New Year! But let's talk about last year. December was a super busy month. Between December 1 and Christmas Day, I worked about 200 hours...which is really pretty crazy. Nice paychecks though
So I didn't do a lot of gaming, though I did finish one thing...
I know a place where dreams are born, and time is never planned.
It's not on any chart, you must find it with your heart. Never Never Land.
It might be miles beyond the moon, or right there where you stand.
Just have an open mind, and then suddenly you'll find Never Never Land.
You'll have a treasure if you stay there, more precious far than gold.
For once you have found your way there, you can never, never grow old.
So come with me where dreams are born, and time is never planned.
Just think of lovely things, and your heart will fly on wings, forever in Never Never Land.
WARNING! Serious weirdness follows. What do you expect from the dream world?
So 2014 although a little lacking in the srpg department I did get 2 awesome games that although not perfect they were really good games, my first Tears to Tiara 2
Yesterday I received notice from Amazon that someone had purchased my copy of Echo Night. It was a game I picked up used from Blockbuster way back when.
But I'm going to tell you something, I wrote a blog here a month ago. One that was going to tell you about the stuff that happen since my last blog back in June or July. Anyways, after finishing said blog; I pressed the post button. Only to discover that I lost my blog, after that I accepted my defeat and kind of put off this place for a while. Anyways, I started working at another place; still scaffolding although I don't know why, it just pays a little more than working behind a cash register. However it means that I stay in camp since I don't want to wake up at 4:00 am during a Canadian Winter every morning, drive to the bus to work, ride said bus for 90 minutes and work 12 hours.
Really fast, I have yet to read any comments from my previous blog and respond, so I apologize for that. It's been a very hellish holiday season for me. My ex fiance has told me he fell out of love with me, completely out of the blue. So needless to say it was a stressful week and we just decided to end it. So I'm single again oh boy!
Today I got deep into Silent Hill. So much so that I beat the game. Then I downloaded Tales from Monkey Island from PSN and played a few hours of that. I think adventure gaming puzzles are a real pain and should be easier, or at least have a hint system, not as generous as Professor Layton, but generous like the remake of Secret of Monkey Island (which I still got stuck in even with the generous hints - see how puzzle-challenged I am).
Hey Pixlbit! So how was that holiday? I know you guys/gals/little green men in space had a good time because I saw how many blogs and comments I am behind on and I think it doubled since the last time I checked this site (probably last week). I’m hoping everything went well with you good folks. Since it is a Special Monday after Christmas let’s cover a couple of items shall we?
I've decided to make every holiday a retro special occasion. I rolled a random genre with my Retro Game Encounter Table and got, Adventure. Then I chose Resident Evil and Silent Hill from the database. I was really happy to have a reason to break out my PS3 Super Slim and get me some PSOne Classics. It took some serious resistance on my part not to pick up Suikoden II and Grandia, amongst others. I get them later for sure though. No worries.

Do You Want To Know More About THE EVIL WITHIN...?
I was meaning to go over some of my favorite games this year with a more in depth hindsight point of view, and this post on NeoGaf showed up that pretty much explains what maybe I couldnt about the gameplay experience. That is that while you do power up while you progress through the game, the game also takes away as much as it gives to maintain a balance, making the whole experience kind of stressful from beginning to end. Most other games that let you power up your build basically let you become over powered to the point where enemies stop posing much of a challenge and you start striking everything down like a hot knife through butter, The Evil Within does not let you do this. The boss fights are cruel and inventive, and you always seem to have just enough ammo to get by, despite your strength. Conserving ammo is necessary and adds to your strategy, not to mention traps and confusing level navigation for extra challenge.
If you haven't played the game and are interested in more details visit the NeoGaf thread.
I agree with most of the points, however there are a lot of naysayers in the comments. Interesting read nonetheless.

Tis the time for lists and other such folly. Tis the time to look back at the year and think of all of the wonderful experiences we had in a virtual realm and try and justify all the time we spent that could have been dedicated to something even mildly important.
It’s that time again. What I like to do this time of year is write about the best games of the year. Keep in mind that no outside opinions went into the making of this list. It’s just my own picks. And if a game is missing from my list, it either didn’t appeal to me as much, or I just simply haven’t played it yet. Can’t play all the games out there, you know! Plus I do apologize if this list leans toward the Nintendo side. I don’t have an Xbox One or PS4 yet, so you’ll just have to deal with it.
I liked Limbo a lot overall, but I hate when I understand exactly how to solve a puzzle but can't get the timing exactly right to complete it. But after confirming what I already thought was the answer (except in one case, where I didn't realize I'd have to travel so far left to get a box I needed) via IGN Walkthrough and then getting the timing down a few times, I did beat it.
