I managed to get a little gaming in on my weekend this week, otherwise, it's been work and getting over whatever wonderful virus the Easter Bunny brought us last week. I really would have preferred jelly beans, by the way.
How’s it going Pixlbit! I don’t know about your weather but Southern California has been going crazy with really windy weather. It was tough to drive around yesterday with all the blowing sand and being in SoCal, it makes people go nuts, and the whatever is left of the Rules of the Road are thrown out the window (I had a guy blow a stop sign as I was entering the intersection, and didn’t give a rat’s arse as he blew by sudden stopped Chris). We have to look out for each other because some just don’t care.
It never ceases to amaze me how the leader of the current generation goes into the next one full of arrogance. Sony certainly were that way when they were introducing the PS3 and were slapped back into reality. Now it's Microsoft, who always have come off to me as shysters taking advantage of the weak-minded, easily swayed, impressionable people who believe what some "video game journalist" says, turn when Orthy the Orator went on Twitter and blabbed out that you will need to be online at all times to use their next console.
There's tons of buzz surrounding the next gen consoles right now.
Bioshock Infinite is a good game.. No.. It’s a GREAT game. I’m not going to sugar coat it, it’s fucking phenomenal! But there are some things that really stick out to me and I’m only a few hours into it. I’ll try to be as spoiler free as possible as I write this so no worries, ok? We cool?
So basically I'm in love with Metal Gear Rising. Combat's a blast while doing just enough different to keep things interesting. I also love how absurd it is that this is by Metal Gear standards (think about that- absurd by Metal Gear standards), but somehow Platinum keeps it feeling like MG even though the gameplay and story structure have little in common. It also made me think how much I would love if Platinum did spin-offs like this more often. So I made a list of the series I'd love to see a Platinum spin-off.
(this is cross-posted from 1UP. The staff uploaded their final podcast, a 3-hour long whale of an event. They didn't state as much, but my guess is it's the last new content 1UP will see, and it's worth a listen. Sam, Jeremy, Milky, Shoe, and many others share their thoughts on 1UP. Anyhoo, on with the blog...)
Well, yesterday involved more moving; luckily this time it was just a dresser, so it didn't take long; unfortunately, my brother lives very close to both Cowboys Stadium and Rangers Ballpark, so traffic was terrible and roads were blocked off, making getting to where he lives a lot more frustrating than it had to be if we had known about certain side and/or back roads earlier. At least I'm pretty sure that's the last of it all, so no more moving. Thanks Wonder Woman, wherever you are.
I've got a large chunk of the old site backed up, but I know that my time is limited regarding doing so. I should be able to find time to do the rest of it this week, as well as finish review #97 (Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!). I must admit that I haven't beaten Tyson with a normal password - that is, going through Super Macho Man to get to him, rather than just using the Tyson code. That last fight is probably one of the toughest things I have yet come across in the NES library; maybe it's because I didn't grow up with it as a kid, or because it's so different from so many other NES games. I can down a tough side-scroller with enough persistence, but taking down Tyson is something I've only done once. I'll come back to it at some point, though, so I can mark it - as well as the other eight "provisionally beaten" games - off of my list for good.
About four years ago, a close family friend received his 15 minutes of internet fame when he posted a badly photoshopped image on NeoGAF of an ostrich body onto the handle and head of a melee weapon on a preview still of the then upcoming Red Faction: Guerilla. The "Ostrich Hammer" was born. The gag became so popular that Violition actually added an Ostrich Hammer to the game.
Builds; I fucking love them! And not only are they fun, but they can also offer great replay value to games. I love making different builds and testing them to see what they can do and how they can be worked, as well as testing them for their strengths and weaknesses. With that said, let me tell you all about some of the builds I’ve done before and also what I’m currently working on!
Ah microsoft, you daft buffoons. Have you not been paying attention to anything that has happened in the past two years, or have you just hermitised yourself and been living in your own degenerate filth. You know what happened to Sim City? It bombed. You know what happened to Diablo 3? Everyone hated it. Also, it's a well known fact that the launches of these titles were spectacularly atrocious. So why in god's name have you put always on DRM on a bloody console?
Sorry for the delay in blogs, life tends to get in the way plus videogames too. Lately I've been playing Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2+ on the PS Vita, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge on the WiiU, Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infinite. Not to mention a collection of games that I've downloaded to my iPad Mini. Anyways, here is a bunch of sketches that I've done in the past month....
Well, if you're wondering where I was yesterday, I was helping my older brother move into his new apartment. Took a lot longer than expected; I thought we were going to be there from like 9:30am to 4pm, ended up being more like 11am to 11pm. But hey I got some exercise in ... and somehow, a sunburn... and we ate at Boomer Jack's which is a good bar and grill place. Dad bought food, my brother bought drinks. Very nice of both of them.
I'm in the middle of crazy start-up time at work, so not a lot of time at the moment. I am reading your blogs, I just don't have time to comment on all of them. May not have much time to write any for a bit, either, other than random updates. I spent the past week trying not to catch whatever Jason's whole family caught at Easter, but Friday I had to call in sick. Pretty sad, considering I just started on Tuesday, Thank god sick time accrues and rolls over!
So I decided to let ya,ll know what I got this week in the game department so here it is,
